İKMİB Brings Turkish Chemical Sector Together with Qatari Business World for the Second Time
Exports to Qatar Rise 101% in First Eight Months of This Year
Within the scope of the "Qatar Chemical Sector Trade Delegation" organized for the second time this year by İKMİB, 16 companies from Turkey participated from the pharmaceutical, medical, OTC, cosmetics and personal care, PVC profile, plastic packaging, plastic raw materials, chemical raw materials, composite, industrial maintenance and protection products/chemicals and mineral oil sectors. At the event held in Doha, Qatar's capital, participating companies conducted bilateral meetings and had the opportunity to visit potential buyers on-site and conduct market research.Chemical Exports to Qatar Targeted at USD 100 Million
Evaluating the Qatar Chemical Sector Trade Delegation event, İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister said, "As İKMİB, in addition to our overseas national participation organizations, sectoral trade delegation events we organize targeting key markets are of great importance for our member companies. The first Qatar Chemical Sector Trade Delegation, which was organized last December with the participation of 41 companies, was held for the second time this year with the participation of 16 member companies." Noting that exports to Qatar in 2017 increased by 48% and reached USD 648,915, Pelister stated, "Our exports to Qatar in the first eight months of 2018 rose 101% compared to the same period in 2017, reaching USD 689,383. Qatar's share in Turkey's exports increased from 0.30% to 0.63%. In the chemical sector, we realized total exports to Qatar of USD 58.4 million in 2017. In the January-October period of 2018, our chemical exports reached USD 98 million. Our goal is for this increase in chemical sector exports to continue at an accelerating pace. In this regard, our chemical exports to Qatar will exceed USD 100 million by year-end," he said.16 Companies Participated
Within the scope of the Qatar Chemical Sector Trade Delegation, 16 participating companies met with a total of 92 Qatari companies. Companies displaying their products at designated tables conducted bilateral business meetings.
