IKMIB Packaging Sector Delegation Holds 69 Business Meetings in Barcelona and Porto

Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters Association (İKMİB) organized a Packaging Sector Sectoral Trade Mission to Barcelona, Spain and Porto, Portugal between 16–21 November 2025 to boost Turkey's packaging sector export potential and strengthen its position in European markets. A total of 69 bilateral business meetings were held during the program.

İKMİB held the "Packaging Sector Spain/Portugal Sectoral Trade Mission" between 16–21 November 2025. Following the first such sectoral trade mission held in Doha, Qatar in February, the second mission to Barcelona and Porto in November was also successfully completed. The delegation was joined by 18 representatives from 11 Turkish packaging sector companies.

During the program, market research activities were conducted in both countries; retail tours included visits to local supermarket chains and packaging warehouses to examine regional consumption trends, product variety and packaging trends on site.

36 bilateral business meetings held in Barcelona
The bilateral business meeting event organized in Barcelona was visited by Turkey's Consul General in Barcelona Ayşe Zeybek and Turkey's Trade Attaché in Barcelona Nurdan Çamlıbel Aydın. The B2B program brought together Spanish and Turkish companies operating in the packaging sector, with 5 Spanish purchasing companies participating and 36 bilateral business meetings held.

33 bilateral business meetings held in Porto
In the B2B program organized in Porto, Portugal, 5 Portuguese purchasing companies participated with 33 bilateral business meetings conducted. Participating companies had the opportunity to evaluate regional trade opportunities.

Adil Pelister: "Strong potential exists for the packaging sector in the European market"
İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister, in his assessment of the mission, stated: "We see strong potential in the European packaging market. We are carrying out all efforts to increase the competitive strength of our exporters with due importance. We believe that the meetings held in Spain and Portugal will make valuable contributions to our sector's export targets. Our plastic packaging sector's ten-month exports this year showed a 3.91% increase compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 3.23 billion. Plastic packaging exports to Spain in the ten-month period this year were approximately USD 126 million, while exports to Portugal reached USD 14.7 million. As İKMİB, we will continue our efforts to develop qualified business networks and open our members to new markets."
