Cooperation Protocol Signed Between Two Ministries
A cooperation protocol was concluded between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of National Education to develop qualified human resources in the agriculture and food sector.
Regarding the work conducted for students in cooperation with the Directorate of National Education, Muğla Agriculture and Forestry Director Barış Saylak stated as follows:
"We are starting this process with the motto 'Agriculture's Future Lies in Today's Youth.' We need to bring young people into agriculture. We must take urgent measures to prevent a food crisis. We need to carry this mission through to the end for sustainable agriculture and reliable food."
The press statement on the work covering 123 schools, 9,309 students and 264 teachers under the slogan "Agriculture's Future Lies in Today's Youth" was made in cooperation between the Muğla Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Directorate and the Provincial Directorate of National Education by Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Barış Saylak and Provincial Director of National Education Emre Çay.
Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director Barış Saylak highlighted the collaborative work with the National Education Directorate for students. Noting that the work conducted for students is a service to the future, Saylak described the protocol as "a protocol written into history." Saylak continued as follows:
"A game was developed for 32,583 primary school students across Muğla province. The aim was to convey to children through play the importance of water, food and soil in their minds. In cooperation with the National Education Directorate, we conducted 48 farmer training courses in 9 districts over the first 6 months of 2022. Certificates were awarded to 444 women and 678 trainees.
Ziraat Bank has a financing campaign for youth employment in agriculture. We are also preparing a protocol on this matter. The bank wants training to be provided for credit access. Our work on this is proceeding rapidly.
Among our objectives is providing employment to 2,500 people through Seydikemer Organized Industrial Zone. At precisely this point, we are planning to employ our trained young people and bring them into agriculture and the sector."
We Need to Bring Young People into Agriculture
Emphasizing that pandemic, climate crisis and wars have strained food supply, Saylak continued: "We are starting this process with the motto 'Agriculture's Future Lies in Today's Youth.' We need to bring young people into agriculture. We must take urgent measures to prevent a food crisis. We need to carry this mission through to the end for sustainable agriculture and reliable food. We will follow up on this." He also noted that a training work area will be established for students in fields owned by the Provincial Directorate. Regarding the protocol covering 123 schools, 9,309 students and 264 teachers, he stated that training will be provided nationwide as follows: "To develop qualified human resources in the agriculture and food sector, we are developing cooperation with our other institutions to cultivate skilled workforce in 105 branches belonging to 47 occupational fields. We are continuing our path with determination, strengthening our characteristic as an agricultural country from the past onwards. In this regard, we are joining forces with the Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Directorate. We have a school with 30 quotas in Köyceğiz for this purpose. We have an application area with greenhouses on 28 decares. We expect students to prefer this area. Students receiving education in this program will be awarded education scholarships and tablets will be distributed."Advertisement
