IDDMIB Announces Export Figures
The Istanbul Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association (IDDMIB) released April and January-April export figures.
Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Sector exports reached USD 1.1 billion in April, down 33.33 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
According to April 2023 figures announced by the Turkish Exporters Council (TIM), exports fell 17.2 percent to USD 19.3 billion, while the Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals sector, the sixth largest exporting sector among industrial branches, recorded January-April exports of USD 4.35 billion, down 19.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Highest exports to Germany
IDDMIB Chairman Çetin Tecdelioğlu, noting that the sector held a 5.3 percent share of total exports in April, stated: "In the January-April 2023 period, the unit export price of the iron and non-ferrous metals sector fell 1.91 percent to USD 4.62 per kilogram compared to the same period last year. Our sector's exports by volume reached 944.2 thousand tons in the same period. Our exports to European Union countries, which represent the sector's largest export destination, fell 37.09 percent to USD 548.3 million as of April 2023 compared to the previous year. Germany ranked first among the countries to which the sector exported most in April with USD 138 million, followed by Italy in second place with USD 68.5 million, and the United States in third place with USD 50.4 million in exports. In the January-April period, our largest exports went to Germany at USD 585.9 million. Italy in second place received USD 314.3 million, and the United States in third place received USD 218.3 million in exports."Competitive energy prices strengthen us
Tecdelioğlu, stating that recent cuts in natural gas and electricity prices are vital for sectors, continued: "The cuts have brought us somewhat closer in competition. Competitive energy prices strengthen us. Our expectation is that these competitive energy prices continue on a sustainable basis. If we can face competitive energy tariffs on a sustainable basis, we can offer highly supportive pricing on the orders we receive going forward." SourceAdvertisement
