Change in Henkel's Board of Management
Jens-Martin Schwärzler succeeds Pascal Houdayer at Henkel Beauty Care.
Jens-Martin Schwärzler (54), Henkel Corporate Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Products Business Unit in North America, has been appointed to the Henkel Board of Management effective 1 November 2017. Schwärzler will succeed Pascal Houdayer (48) on the Board of Management and will also assume responsibility for the Henkel Beauty Care Business Unit. In a statement on the matter, Henkel CEO Hans Van Bylen said, "We are very pleased to appoint Jens-Martin Schwärzler as a Member of the Board of Management to lead our Beauty Care Business Unit. Jens-Martin Schwärzler brings extensive international experience and expertise in the Beauty Care Business Unit. We would like to thank Pascal Houdayer for his dedication and valuable contributions to our Home Care and subsequently Beauty Care Business Units. We wish him continued success in his future career." Jens-Martin Schwärzler joined Henkel in 1992. Since the beginning of 2015, he has been responsible for the Consumer Products Business Unit in North America. Under Schwärzler's leadership, Henkel successfully launched brands such as Persil and Schwarzkopf in North America. Following the acquisition of Sun Products Corporation in 2016, he led the process of integrating Henkel's Laundry and Home Care and Beauty Care Business Units, which relocated to a shared facility on the East Coast of the United States in Stamford, Connecticut. Between 2008 and 2014, he was responsible for Global Marketing of Body, Skin and Oral Care in the Beauty Care Business Unit. In addition, while managing international sales in the Beauty Care Business Unit, he also assumed responsibility for the Cosmetics Retail Business Unit in Western Europe. Prior to that, he held various positions within the Laundry and Home Care Business Unit. Jens-Martin Schwärzler holds a master's degree in economics from Stuttgart-Hohenheim University. Pascal Houdayer joined Henkel in 2011. He began his career as Corporate Senior Vice President in the Laundry and Home Care Business Unit. He was responsible for digital activities, the Asia-Pacific region, and International Marketing of the Home Care Business Unit. He has been a member of the Henkel Board of Management since 1 March 2016. Before joining Henkel, he held various management positions internationally in the consumer products industry. In fiscal year 2016, Henkel Beauty Care achieved sales of approximately EUR 3.8 billion and operating profit of EUR 647 million. Henkel Beauty Care's portfolio includes body, skin and oral care brands as well as hair cosmetic products for consumers and professional hairdressers.
