Hayat Kimya Optimizes $65 Million Energy Budget with Artificial Intelligence

Hayat Kimya has commissioned an AI-powered energy management system that analyzes energy production and consumption simultaneously at its Kocaeli Campus. Developed in-house by the company, the system enables 24/7 monitoring of an annual energy budget of approximately $65 million, providing decision support for critical processes such as production planning, cost analysis, grid optimization and energy source selection.
Hayat Kimya has deployed an artificial intelligence-powered energy management system at its Kocaeli Campus that simultaneously analyzes energy production and consumption. Developed in-house, the system enables 24/7 monitoring of an annual energy budget of approximately USD 65 million, providing decision support for critical processes including production planning, cost analysis, grid optimization and energy source selection.
Hayat Kimya, which owns powerful brands including Bingo, Molfix, Molped, Familia and Papia, has taken a significant step in digital energy transformation by combining its industrial energy management experience with artificial intelligence technologies. Following approximately five years of development, the system was first implemented at the company's Kocaeli Campus.

A New Era in Energy Management with Artificial Intelligence
The energy management system developed by Hayat Kimya simultaneously analyzes energy production and consumption data, production schedules, operational constraints, grid conditions and changing cost parameters. The system determines the most efficient source, timing and cost for meeting the facility's energy needs, continuously optimizing energy management processes.
Operating not merely as a monitoring infrastructure tracking energy consumption, but as a dynamic management model supporting decision processes based on production requirements and market conditions, the system continuously performs cost analyses, energy production planning, grid optimization and operations monitoring.
Sabri Çakmak, Global Energy Director at Hayat Kimya, stated that the energy management system plays an important role in the company's sustainability and efficiency targets, adding: "We aim to create a structure that manages energy holistically—from production to consumption, from cost to operational efficiency—not merely generating or purchasing it. This system will contribute not only to our organization but also to reducing energy dependency and strengthening the national economy."

Cogeneration Infrastructure Optimized with Artificial Intelligence
Energy, second only to raw materials as a major cost item in industrial production, is critical for production continuity and competitive strength. While Hayat Kimya's paper production facilities in particular have intensive energy consumption, the improvements achieved in energy management deliver direct cost and efficiency advantages.
At its Kocaeli Campus, Hayat Kimya operates a cogeneration system that simultaneously produces electricity and thermal energy from natural gas, meeting approximately 80 percent of the facility's electricity and heating needs through this system.
With the new artificial intelligence-powered model, the cogeneration infrastructure is managed more effectively in line with production plans, real-time energy consumption, grid conditions and changing costs. The system contributes to the development of optimal energy usage scenarios by analyzing data obtained from different energy sources.
Model Launched in Turkey to Expand to Global Facilities
Hayat Kimya aims to expand the artificial intelligence-powered energy management model deployed at its Kocaeli Campus to other production facilities in Turkey and abroad based on operational results achieved.
Through this system, which brings together energy production, efficiency and digital decision-making mechanisms under one roof, the company aims to optimize energy costs, increase resource utilization efficiency and make production processes more resilient.
