For paint or coating systems to be applied on exterior facades, proper surface preparation must always be carried out before application.

For exterior facades, proper surface preparation must be carried out before applying any paint or coating system. This ensures that the effort and time invested in surface preparation will be repaid through improved performance and extended service life of the applied paint or coating system. As a result, maintenance and repair costs will be reduced. Additionally, from an aesthetic standpoint, since surface defects are eliminated, your facades will achieve a flawless and perfect appearance after paint and coating application. With over 120 product varieties across 16 product groups, Terraco, a solution partner for specialist applicators, offers Handycoat Exterior repair and filling putty for exterior facades. Handycoat Exterior is an acrylic-based putty developed for use with ready-to-use prefabricated facade elements, tunnel formwork and repair of damaged thin-coat rendered surfaces. It has high adhesion resistance and prepares a smooth and even substrate for paint application on all surfaces. It provides excellent compatibility on many building elements such as cement, wood, galvanized and rust-inhibited steel surfaces, raw concrete, rendered surfaces, and others. It is a product highly resistant to weather conditions. Due to its permanent elasticity, it can accommodate shrinkage and expansion, reducing the risk of cracking. Surface Preparation: The surfaces to be coated must be cleaned of all types of dust, oil, dirt, adhesive, foreign matter, etc. Dusty and porous surfaces should be primed before application with P.Primer Clear, P.Primer Pigmented or Terrabond A diluted at a 1:5 ratio. Application: Where multiple coats are required depending on the surface condition, the first coat should be applied as a thin layer, followed by subsequent coats. Sufficient drying time between application coats must be ensured. After application is complete and drying is achieved, the surface should be lightly sanded before painting.

Advantages of Handycoat Exterior;

• Water-based with ECOLIFE properties, its VOC value is nearly "Zero". It is environmentally friendly and harmless to human health and nature. • Ready-to-use, so there are no mixing or consistency problems, saving time. • Easy to apply, making it user-friendly. • Allows the surfaces it is applied to breathe. • Does not require priming, reducing consumption of water-based acrylic paints and coatings applied over it.

Need High Flexibility? End Cracking Problems with Handycoat Flex

Handycoat Flex is an acrylic flexible repair and filling putty that prevents cracking at the joints of different building elements and in challenging details where high performance is expected in structures. Where normal mastics are insufficient, it creates a water-resistant property resistant to dust and moisture on the applied surface. Water-based and friendly to human health and nature, Handycoat Flex can be easily used on both interior and exterior facades. It is an ideal product for the joints between concrete structures, at the seams of drywall sheets, around doors and windows, behind baseboards and moldings, for repair of plaster and concrete cracks, and at junction points of different components where high elasticity is required. Due to high adhesion resistance, it prevents swelling and peeling. Where there is a very high risk of cracking, joint tape should be applied at the seams.

Surface Preparation:

All types of dust, dirt and foreign matter present on the surface to be coated must be cleaned. Priming is strongly recommended on dusty and swollen surfaces. When applying filler to previously painted surfaces, the surface should first be washed with water and left to dry before application. Priming of old or new surfaces is not necessary, but surfaces showing signs of dusting or swelling and gypsum and drywall surfaces should be primed with TERRACO P.Primer Clear or P.Primer Pigmented diluted at a 1:1 ratio before application.

Application:

To fill cracks, the crack should be opened in a "V" shape and the surface primed. After one coat of Handycoat Flex is applied to the surface, the surface is smoothed. To prevent shrinkage, the first application should be left to dry for 24 hours before applying another coat. Hand tools used after application should be cleaned with water.
