Young Scientists Award Program Results Announced
According to the 2023 results of the Science Academy's Young Scientists Award Programme "BAGEP", nine young scientists from Sabancı University earned awards for their outstanding work.
The Science Academy Young Scientists Awards (BAGEP), granted annually by the Science Academy to identify and honour outstanding young scientists and support new research, have found their recipients. Sabancı University received a total of nine awards this year, making it the university with the most awards.
Sabancı University Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Leblebici made the following comments on the matter:
"As Sabancı University, we are advancing with confident steps towards becoming one of the world's leading research universities through both the quality and uniqueness of our education programmes and our contributions to the scientific world. In this sense, we are implementing pioneering and innovative research activities in our faculties and centres, supported by project funding from both domestic and international sources.
While conducting all these activities, our greatest strength is our robust academic staff. Over the past three years, we have added a total of 58 full-time new faculty members to our ranks, 85 percent of whom hold doctoral degrees from universities outside Turkey. Of these faculty members, 33 are academics who came directly from abroad to join the university.
With our strong team, the numerous awards we received at the 2023 BAGEP Awards once again demonstrated our academic richness. We congratulate our young academics for their outstanding achievements."
The young scientists from Sabancı University who earned the BAGEP Award for their successful work are: Gökalp Alpan in Mathematics; Burcu Saner Okan in Materials Engineering; Murat Kaya Yapıcı in Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Burak Kocuk in Industrial Engineering; Nur Mustafaoğlu Varol in Biology; Morteza Ghorbani in Mechanical Engineering; Eren Günseli and Junko Kanero in Psychology; and Sinem Erdoğan İşkorkutan in History.
