Medal for GEBKİM's Heroes

GEBKİM Honours Its Heroes with Medals The Presidency awarded State Supreme Sacrifice Medals and Insignia to teams that served in search and rescue operations during the 6 February earthquakes. At the Republic of Turkey State Supreme Sacrifice Medal and Insignia Awarding Ceremony held at Beştepe National Congress and Cultural Center, GEBKİM Fire Chief Zafer Yıldız received a medal on behalf of his team. Zafer Yıldız received his medal from Vice President Fuat Oktay. The earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on 6 February, affecting 11 provinces, resulted in the loss of thousands of citizens. From the first hours of this major disaster that left deep wounds in our hearts, GEBKİM Specialized Chemical Industrial Zone made great efforts to heal the wounds by mobilizing all its resources to the earthquake zone. The heroic firefighters of GEBKİM OSB, operating in Kocaeli, also served selflessly in the field with fully equipped teams to support search and rescue operations. With each life pulled from the rubble, they kindled hope as well. Earthquake heroes were not forgotten, and search and rescue teams that showed great dedication in the region were awarded State Supreme Sacrifice Medals and Insignia. At the ceremony held at Beştepe National Congress and Cultural Center, GEBKİM Fire Chief Zafer Yıldız received the dedication medal on behalf of his team from Vice President Fuat Oktay. GEBKİM Specialized Chemical Industrial Zone Board Chairman Vefa İbrahim Aracı, stating that they took action immediately following the Kahramanmaraş and Hatay earthquakes to contribute to operations in the region, said: "As GEBKİM industrialists, we made efforts with all our resources to heal the wounds of this major disaster that deeply shook our country and to meet the needs of the region's people. During this period, we cannot thank enough the very valuable team of GEBKİM firefighters who went from Kocaeli to the earthquake zone and participated in search and rescue operations for their selflessness. We take pride in our state deeming us worthy of this medal, and we extend our gratitude."
