FRX Polymers Develops Halogen-Free Flame Retardants for PUR Foams

FRX Polymers has launched a range of halogen-free flame retardants under the Nofia brand name. These flame retardants are designed for use in polyurethane flexible foams at high temperatures in the transportation and electronics industries. Nofia Flame Retardants are halogen-free polyphosphonates that can be added in powder form or as a liquid polyol solution. By performing flame-retardant and heat-balancing functions, they enable PU flexible foams to meet the UL 94 V-0 fire standard. The company claims that the foams maintain their mechanical performance following thermal aging tests at 150°C. Applications include hood components, buffers and seals for electric vehicle batteries, and foams designed to reduce noise, vibration and hardness in numerous transportation parts. They can also be used in seals for electrical and electronic components under UL94 V-0 requirements.
