Ford E-Transit Wins Gold Award

Ford E-Transit Receives Gold Award The Ford E-Transit, the first fully electric commercial vehicle produced by Ford Otosan in Kocaeli plants in Turkey, has been awarded the gold award by Euro NCAP. The independent vehicle safety organization Euro NCAP has awarded Ford the 'Gold' award for advanced driving support technologies. Thus, Ford's first fully electric commercial vehicle, the E-Transit, has become the holder of the gold award. Ford also stands out as the only company in Turkey to own commercial vans with gold awards through the Transit Custom and Transit models produced domestically.

Euro NCAP Awards Ford E-Transit Gold Rating

Ford's first electric commercial vehicle, the E-Transit, offers drivers comprehensive technology. The vehicle also features technology designed to reduce driver fatigue during long hours spent in the vehicle. Euro NCAP awarded the E-Transit gold status. In determining the award, Euro NCAP analyzed various technologies such as autonomous emergency braking, lane-following technology, traffic sign recognition system and occupant detection systems when approaching vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. As a result of these analyses, the E-Transit received the gold award. This award means that Ford presents the only two vehicles with Euro NCAP Gold Awards in driver support technology in the 2-ton segment. With this new award, Ford has become the only van manufacturer with gold-rated commercial vans in both the 1-ton and 2-ton segments, following the gold award that Ford Transit received from Euro NCAP in 2020.

Produced at the Gölcük Plant

Ford produces the E-Transit, its first fully electric commercial vehicle model, at its Gölcük plant. The company is also conducting pilot studies with various drivers across Europe for the electric commercial model. In addition to delivering a good driving experience with advanced technologies, the vehicle is expected to reduce repair and insurance costs. Among the driver support technologies offered by the E-Transit are Collision Prevention Assistance with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Adaptive Speed Control with Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Keeping Alert and Assistance, Blind Spot Information System, Intersection Assistance, 360-degree camera and Reverse Maneuver Brake Assistance.

Euro NCAP Tested the Vehicle Through Simulations

In the simulations conducted by Euro NCAP, driver alerts and active safety technology responses were tested when approaching stationary vehicles or slower-moving traffic, or when a vehicle ahead performs an emergency stop. Tests were also conducted on reactions to a child running onto the road, cyclists leaving or crossing the roadway, and pedestrians. These scenarios represent potential situations in urban environments where Ford anticipates the E-Transit will be predominantly used.
