Eti Bakır's New Fertilizer Plant Starts Production

Eti Bakır, the only company in Türkiye capable of producing from ore to final product, has begun production at its fertilizer facility built with a USD 300 million investment integrated into the Samsun Smelting and Electrolysis Plant. With the facility's production capacity of 450,000 tons, Eti Bakır's total annual DAP fertilizer production will reach 850,000 tons.

Eti Bakır, one of the pioneer companies in value-added industry, has added another support measure to agriculture sector in Türkiye. The fertilizer facility, which the company brought to life with a USD 300 million investment integrated into the Samsun Smelting and Electrolysis Plant, has started production. The facility, capable of producing 450,000 tons of diammonium phosphate (DAP) annually or 720,000 tons of NPK compound fertilizer depending on demand, will support Turkish farmers.

'We Will Continue to Support Farmers'
Eti Bakır General Manager Asım Akbaş, noting that fertilizer is a strategic product for Türkiye, stated: "Our primary and most important objective in fertilizer facility investments is to support Turkish farmers and our country's agriculture. There is a fertilizer market of approximately 6 million tons in Türkiye, of which close to 650,000 tons consists of DAP fertilizer. Our Samsun and Mazıdağı facilities have the capability to produce both of these fertilizers. Therefore, we will be ready to produce whichever fertilizer the market needs."

Akbaş continued: "For a country with high potential like Türkiye, fertilizer production and effective use are of critical importance for the sustainability of agriculture. On the other hand, fertilizer, due to insufficient domestic production, remains on the agenda with both supply that cannot meet demand and its pricing. We are one of the companies focusing precisely on this area and increasing our investments so that our farmers can access domestic fertilizer at economical prices. While contributing to the development of agricultural economy through domestic fertilizer production at our Mardin and Samsun facilities, we continue to support farmers by offering the fertilizer we produce at reasonable prices through our circular economy model. We believe that progress in sustainable agriculture will increase with Turkish farmers' access to fertilizer at affordable prices."

Four-Stage Treatment System
The new fertilizer facility, which has a closed area of 70,000 square meters, will be able to produce 2,000 tons of fertilizer per day. Comprising 10 sections including 2 fertilizer storage areas, silo storage, mill, auxiliary units, DAP building, phosphoric acid area, switchgear building, dressing room and packaging, the facility stands out with its efficiency thanks to the latest technologies used. Through conveyor lines integrated into the fertilizer facility, raw material arriving from the port is transferred to the production line via fully automatic belts. If necessary, fertilizer export will also be carried out through this conveyor line. Through the new fertilizer facility's 4-stage treatment system, stack gas emissions are maintained at levels below European standards. The facility's raw material storage area consists of silos produced with the latest technology. These silos prevent the dispersion of raw material into the environment and control dust transfer.
