Eti Bakır Launches Afforestation Campaign
Eti Bakır, a group company of Cengiz Holding, one of Türkiye's largest industrial organizations, is strengthening its environmental responsibilities through concrete field applications. As part of National Afforestation Day on 11 November, the company organized afforestation activities at its 8 facilities stretching from Samsun to Siirt, bringing together nearly 1,000 employees and stakeholders to plant 41,000 saplings, making a corporate contribution to the "Green Homeland Mobilization" campaign.
Eti Bakır, a group company of Cengiz Holding, one of Turkey's largest industrial enterprises, is strengthening its environmental responsibilities through concrete field applications. Within the scope of 11 November National Afforestation Day, the company organized tree-planting activities across 8 operations stretching from Samsun to Siirt, and together with approximately one thousand employees and stakeholders, planted 41 thousand saplings, contributing to the 'Green Homeland Campaign'.
Eti Bakır, which extends sustainable mining not only to production processes but to all activities related to environmental and social impact, organized sapling-planting programs within the scope of 11 November National Afforestation Day at its operations in Samsun, Adıyaman, Cerattepe, Halıköy, Küre, Mazıdağı, Murgul and Siirt. Through events involving employee and local stakeholder participation, a total of 41 thousand saplings were planted, adding a new chapter to the company's year-round afforestation efforts.
Eti Bakır had officially shared in its first sustainability report released recently that it has carried out a total of 2.3 million tree plantings to date. As this figure continues to increase with new plantings carried out within the scope of 11 November National Afforestation Day, the company draws attention not only through its current applications but also through its future commitments. Through the protocol signed with the General Directorate of Forestry in October, Eti Bakır has committed to planting a total of 1 million saplings across four different regions over the next four years, making afforestation efforts an institutional program.
Eti Bakır General Manager Asım Akbaş stated that Eti Bakır will continue its support to Turkey and nature with a long-term value strategy, saying, "Our fundamental principle is to use the resources provided by the geography where we operate responsibly and sustainably while conducting our mining activities. In this direction, we have allocated significant resources to environmental investments, rehabilitation efforts and afforestation projects to date. For us, 11 November National Afforestation Day is not merely a symbolic day; it is an indication of concrete support provided in the field to the 'Future's Breath – Green Homeland Campaign' launched by our Presidency. Through planting programs organized at 8 of our facilities, we have brought thousands of saplings into the ground. Additionally, under the protocol signed with the General Directorate of Forestry, we have committed to planting a total of 1 million saplings across four different regions over the next four years. While using resources responsibly, we consider strengthening the ecosystem an integral part of our work."
