Eti Bakır, a group company of Cengiz Holding, has completed a planned maintenance shutdown at its Metal Recovery and Integrated Fertilizer Plant in Mardin Mazıdağı during the June-July 2025 period. Maintenance, modernization and automation investments in production lines have strengthened the facility's safe, efficient and sustainable production capacity. Environmental responsibility and occupational safety principles were prioritized throughout the work.

Critical Revisions for Production Safety
Within the scope of the approximately one-month planned shutdown, comprehensive maintenance and renewal work was carried out in different units of the facility.

  • Sulfuric Acid Plant: Structural modifications were made to roaster units, revisions were performed on electrostatic filters and renewals were completed on SO₂ heat exchangers.
  • Phosphoric Acid Plant: FRP coatings and brick coatings were increased, and capacity gains were achieved by switching to an endless belt system.
  • Metal Recovery Plant: Distributed Control System (DCS) was upgraded and a redundant system was activated.
  • DCS and DAP Plants: Critical maintenance and renewals were completed on high-pressure compressors and drum systems.
  • Power Plant: Modernization work was completed on turbine, generator and fan systems.

Through these comprehensive efforts, facility efficiency was improved, unplanned shutdown risks were minimized and production safety was strengthened.

“We Have Brought Our Facility Back Online with Stronger Infrastructure”
Bekir Kan, Operations Manager at Eti Bakır Mazıdağı Plant, made the following remarks regarding the revision process:

“We completed the approximately one-month planned maintenance shutdown according to our planned schedule. Through the maintenance and modernization work we implemented in our critical units, our facility's production safety, efficiency and sustainability have been further strengthened. With the high level of coordination and cooperation shown during the shutdown period, we have brought our facility back online with stronger infrastructure.”

Investment in the Future
During the revision period, approximately 3,000 work orders were issued and multifaceted maintenance and inspection activities were carried out. In addition to internal technical teams, an external support workforce of 600 personnel was deployed. The planned shutdown not only ensured production continuity but also served as a strategic investment contributing to the facility's long-term goals of safety, environmental responsibility and sustainability.

Eti Bakır aims to continue its contributions to regional development and the Turkish economy through its Mazıdağı Plant without interruption.
