October Capacity Utilization Rates Encouraging KOCAELI (AA)- Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Kocaeli Sanayi Odası (KSO), stated that they viewed with satisfaction the increases in October capacity utilization rates in Turkey and Kocaeli when compared to 2018 and 2019, years unaffected by the pandemic. Zeytinoğlu made assessments regarding October capacity utilization rates based on data from the Central Bank and KSO in a written statement. Noting that the manufacturing capacity utilization rate, which they regularly announce each month, remained at 71.3 percent in Kocaeli in October, unchanged from the previous month but up 0.8 percentage points from the same month last year, Zeytinoğlu stated: "Turkey's manufacturing capacity utilization rate, announced by the Central Bank at 78 percent, declined 0.1 percentage points from the previous month while rising 2.6 percentage points compared to the same month last year. When we compare it to 2018 and 2019, years without pandemic effects, we view with satisfaction the increases realized in both Turkey's overall and Kocaeli's capacity utilization. Looking at sectors, the chemicals, metals, machinery, plastics and rubber sectors emerge as sectors with capacity utilization rates realized above the general average in October." He said. Pointing out that in their survey of industrial facilities in Kocaeli in October, 55 percent of companies reported increased capacity utilization rates compared to the previous month, Zeytinoğlu said: "Looking at the expectations of Kocaeli companies participating in the October survey for domestic and foreign markets in November, 23 percent of companies indicated that their domestic orders increased while 20 percent reported a decline. For 57 percent of companies, domestic order volumes experienced no change.
