Aegean Region Exports USD 2.6 Billion Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri's August exports reached USD 1 billion 522 million. EİB, which recorded USD 1 billion 531 million in exports in August 2022, saw a 0.5% decline in exports. Members of Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri recorded USD 12 billion 179 million in exports during the first eight months of 2023, while over the past 12 months they increased exports by 1% from USD 18 billion 122 million to USD 18 billion 289 million. In August, EİB members increased agricultural exports by 4% from USD 552.8 million to USD 575.9 million, recorded USD 847 million in industrial product exports in August, and USD 99.7 million in mining sector exports.

Aegean Region exports USD 2.6 billion

In August, Aegean Region exports reached USD 2 billion 607 million, while İzmir continued to dominate Aegean Region exports with USD 1 billion 431 million in export performance. Two free trade zones in İzmir contributed USD 284 million 274 thousand to İzmir's exports. Manisa increased exports from USD 432 million in August 2022 to USD 470 million in August 2023, a 8.5% increase, consolidating its second-place position among Aegean Region provinces. Denizli, which showed export performance exceeding Manisa in some months during 2022, did not demonstrate the same performance in 2023. Denizli's August exports fell 4.6% from USD 385 million in the same month of 2022 to USD 367 million. Muğla took third place with USD 88 million in August exports, followed by Balıkesir with USD 86 million and Aydın with USD 74.6 million in exports. Kütahya earned USD 36.5 million in foreign currency for Turkey, while Afyon recorded USD 31 million in exports. Uşak recorded USD 22 million in export performance.

Iron sector shares the lead

Ege Demir ve Demirdışı Metaller İhracatçıları Birliği increased exports by 9% from USD 203 million to USD 222 million, maintaining a clear lead among the 12 exporter associations within Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri.

Textile sector leads export growth

Ege Tekstil ve Hammaddeleri İhracatçıları Birliği increased exports from USD 21 million in August 2022 to USD 39.9 million in August 2023, an 89% increase, becoming the export growth record holder within EİB in August. This increase is a result of world's cheapest cotton exports due to the textile crisis in Turkey.

Aquatic products and animal products share the top spot

Ege Su Ürünleri ve Hayvansal Mamuller İhracatçıları Birliği, where the aquatic products sector serves as the locomotive, recorded USD 137.8 million in August exports and continued to follow Ege Demir ve Demirdışı Metaller İhracatçıları Birliği.

Fashion industry struggles with current exchange rates

Ege Hazırgiyim ve Konfeksiyon İhracatçıları Birliği, representing the fashion industry which is a major employment driver and among sectors most negatively affected by current exchange rate trends, recorded USD 118 million in export performance. EHKİB's August 2022 exports were USD 125 million. EHKİB's export decline was recorded at 5.5%.

Fresh fruit and vegetable exports reach USD 107 million

Ege Yaş Meyve Sebze İhracatçıları Birliği showed successful performance in August exports, increasing exports by 8% from USD 99 million to USD 106.8 million. EYMSİB's trailing 12-month exports also increased by 8% to USD 1 billion 317 million. Ege Maden İhracatçıları Birliği, Turkey's leader in natural stone exports, saw exports decline 9.5%, with foreign currency earnings reaching USD 99.7 million. Ege Hububat Bakliyat Yağlı Tohumlar ve Mamulleri İhracatçıları Birliği, whose export figures declined in recent months due to bottlenecks in poppy seed exports to India, recovered in August. EHBYİB, which recorded USD 80 million in export performance in August 2022, achieved USD 88 million in foreign currency earnings in August 2023, a 9% export increase. Ege Tütün İhracatçıları Birliği, one of Turkey's traditional exporting sectors, recorded USD 79 million in exports. It moved one step closer to its annual USD 1 billion export target.

Dried fruit exports increase 17%

Ege Kuru Meyve ve Mamulleri İhracatçıları Birliği, entering a new season for dried apricots and seedless raisins and continuing preparations for a new season in dried figs, increased exports by 17% from USD 58 million to USD 68 million. Ege Mobilya Kağıt ve Orman Ürünleri İhracatçıları Birliği, which includes paper, furniture and non-wood forest products, recorded USD 66 million in August exports. Ege Zeytin ve Zeytinyağı İhracatçıları Birliği, shaken by the export ban imposed on bulk and barrieled olive oil exports, managed to increase exports by 43% from USD 19.8 million to USD 28.4 million in August, despite losing momentum in export growth rates. Ege Deri ve Deri Mamulleri İhracatçıları Birliği, showing a flat trend in exports, recorded USD 16.9 million in August exports.
