Eczacıbaşı Bilişim, the information technology unit of Eczacıbaşı Group, has obtained R&D centre registration from the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Eczacıbaşı Group's fifth R&D centre, Eczacıbaşı Bilişim R&D Centre will develop intelligent and mobile solutions with a focus on artificial intelligence and data. Eczacıbaşı Bilişim, which provides software, consulting, service and support services in information technology to Eczacıbaşı Group entities and organisations outside the Group, took an important step by obtaining R&D centre approval as of January. Eczacıbaşı Bilişim, which has data scientists and engineers on staff and develops competitive products for emerging technologies while serving as a centre of attraction for scientists and engineers working in this field, earned R&D centre registration with five projects it submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Technology in the areas of optimisation, efficiency, digitalisation and artificial intelligence. In the coming period, Eczacıbaşı Bilişim aims to grow with a focus on innovation, gain competitiveness in the international arena, and contribute to the sector and Turkey with innovative smart technology projects. Through collaborations established with universities such as Boğaziçi University, Istanbul Technical University, Marmara University and Eskişehir Technical University, Eczacıbaşı Bilişim, which holds an important position in the IT sector through knowledge transfer and innovative solutions, will continue to develop innovation-focused and value-creating products through its application development, data science, data engineering and artificial intelligence units. Within Eczacıbaşı Group, besides the R&D centre in the IT field, there are three R&D centres developing original projects in consumer products, healthcare and natural resources, and one R&D centre with innovation centre status operating in the field of ceramic healthcare products. As of the end of 2023, the Group holds 150 registered patents in its main business areas, 24 of which are international.
'We all have responsibilities'
Faruk Eczacıbaşı, Vice Chairman of Eczacıbaşı Holding Board of Directors and Chairman of Eczacıbaşı Bilişim Board of Directors, noted that their vision is sustainability, the wellbeing of the world and leaving a better future for future generations, stating: 'To achieve this, we all have responsibilities. R&D in technology is of critical importance in this area. Cooperation and participation are other important concepts. We are delighted that our R&D centre has received ministerial approval and will continue its work in a new structure. I am confident that as Eczacıbaşı Bilişim, we will develop projects that will stand ahead of waves of disruption and contribute to our country and the world through the power of R&D, cooperation and technology.'
'We will continue to focus on projects shaping tomorrow's world'
Hilmi Koçak, Head of Eczacıbaşı Information and Communication Systems Group and Member of Eczacıbaşı Bilişim Board of Directors, stated that as an R&D centre, they have taken an important step towards becoming an organisation that produces innovative solutions and develops intelligent products. Koçak emphasised that their primary objective is to integrate automation and artificial intelligence technologies into all their products and services through continuous improvement and performance culture. Pointing out that they will continue to contribute to Eczacıbaşı's vision of being 'a pioneer of contemporary, quality and healthy living' by using technology's transformative power in every field, Koçak stated: 'We will continue to focus on projects shaping today's and tomorrow's world with smarter and more efficient solutions. We will achieve this with our strong team of expert scientists and engineers in the field.' Barış Dönmez, Business Unit Director at Eczacıbaşı Bilişim, said they have entered an important transformation process as Eczacıbaşı Bilişim. Dönmez pointed out that through the work they have carried out as part of Eczacıbaşı Group's digital transformation, they have achieved significant outputs and have been recognised with numerous awards.
Noting that the most important factor holding them together throughout this process has been the motivation to achieve success together, Dönmez continued as follows:
'We have a vision of becoming a player offering effective solutions both domestically and internationally, drawing on the learning from our R&D centre journey and the new targets we have set in this context. We are a young team with expertise in different disciplines, capable of offering different perspectives. While the proportion of women working in the technology field in Turkey is approximately 10 percent, in our R&D centre this rate is 48 percent. As we develop products in the field of intelligent technologies for our sector and country, we will continue to contribute to the development of talent working in the technology field.' Source
