The 57th ECMA Congress, one of the important gatherings of the European carton packaging sector, was held in Rome on September 16-18. Under the theme "Folding Cartons: Powering Future Packaging," the congress addressed sustainability, recycling, European packaging regulations, and the future of the sector.
As a result of the election held at the congress, Alican Duran became ECMA's new president. The association, which represents more than 650 carton packaging manufacturers, holds approximately 80 percent of the carton packaging market in Europe. More than 60 thousand people work at the companies represented by ECMA.
"We will make Türkiye's voice heard more strongly"
Noting that being elected ECMA President is a significant responsibility, Alican Duran said that sustainability, recycling, and new European packaging regulations are among the main issues shaping the future of the sector.
Stating that, in addition to deepening growth in existing markets in Europe, they aim to increase added value through the pursuit of new markets, Duran said they will work to further strengthen Türkiye's position and voice in the European carton packaging sector.
