DYO Provides Major Support for Education with "Value for Tomorrow" Project

DYO adds value to society through its Corporate Social Responsibility Project "Value for Tomorrow". The "Value for Tomorrow" Project, designed in accordance with sustainability principles, was implemented under three different headings: "Value for Learning", "Value for Craftsmanship" and "Value for Schools".

Within the scope of the project carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, the Vocational Qualifications Authority and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, school painting standards were scientifically established for the first time in Turkey.

The School Painting Guide prepared under DYO's leadership was sent to all schools across Turkey following a protocol signed with the Ministry of National Education.

According to research conducted, colour selections made according to the physical comfort of schools and the suitability of spaces increase student school achievement and productivity by 25 percent. DYO's project, which is planned to be long-term, will be continued with different areas in the coming period.

DYO introduced its "Value for Tomorrow" Project at a press conference it held. At the conference where information about the work carried out in 2016 was provided and project objectives were communicated;

The project, which aims to achieve a better future by creating "Value for Tomorrow" through sustainability practices based on scientific data and evidence, first introduced "Value for Learning". An advisory board composed of academics from the Architecture Faculty and Educational Sciences Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University prepared educational content providing information about colour, space usage, heat and light elements.

During the 2015-2016 academic year, 1,025 trainings were provided in 66 schools across 10 provinces, reaching over 25,000 students in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades and 1,018 teachers.

The goal of the trainings was for children to improve their quality of life and academic success, and to develop awareness about aesthetic values. Within the scope of the project, trainings were also provided to administrators, classroom teachers and school-family association members working in schools where educational applications were conducted.

Within the scope of the "Value for Craftsmanship" project implemented under the "Value for Tomorrow" umbrella, 219 painting craftsmen across 10 provinces in Turkey received 1,300 hours of training from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Craftsmen holding Professional Qualifications Certificates experienced colour and space composition from an architect's perspective through the trainings.

With DYO's "Value for Schools" project implemented within the scope of "Value for Tomorrow", a first was achieved in Turkey and the School Painting Guide was prepared with scientific content establishing standards.

The School Painting Guide, which contains colour and paint options based on elements such as colour, space and light, in order to improve and enhance the quality of school spaces where our children spend most of their time, was sent by the Ministry of National Education to 20,000 schools across Turkey.

The guide was also shared with one million teachers.

10 schools located in 10 provinces—Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, Samsun and Trabzon—were painted by DYO as implementation examples of the School Painting Guide accepted by the Ministry of National Education.

As part of the project, 120 craftsmen holding Professional Qualifications Certificates who received training from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University completed the painting in a short period of one month using 34 tons of paint and prepared the schools for the new academic year.
