Turkey, home to the world's most important thermal springs, is reshaping tourism routes with ongoing thermal facilities. It is noted that in the coming period, tourism, which to date has focused on sun, sand and natural beauty, will be complemented by health and thermal tourism. Prof. Dr. Karl Ludwig Resch, a world-renowned thermal expert examining the investments of Kızılbük GYO underway in Marmaris, stated, "If Turkey develops its thermal waters, it will become the centre of the world in this field."

The İçmeler Kızılbük Thermal Wellness Resort Project, which ranks among Turkey's most important tourism investments and is the first qualified thermal facility in Marmaris, opened its doors to experts. Prof. Dr. Karl Ludwig Resch, a world-renowned thermal expert who conducted inspections at the facility, provided information about the country's thermal waters.

Prof. Dr. Karl Ludwig Resch from the German Institute for Health Research, stating that Turkey is essentially the world's centre in terms of thermal sources, noted that Kızılbük GYO has signed an important investment in the evaluation of healing springs with a significant impact on health tourism in Turkey. Prof. Dr. Resch, who long served as chairman of the Saxony SPA Association and led the development of the health tourism and spa sector in Germany during that period, stated that if Turkey develops its potential, it could become a global leader in thermal tourism.

Turkey earned USD 849.6 million from thermal tourism in the first four months of 2024

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), Prof. Dr. Karl Ludwig Resch, noting that 428,072 foreigners came to Turkey to receive health services in the first quarter of 2024 and that revenue of USD 849.663 million was generated from this, pointed out that Turkey has experienced visible growth in health tourism in recent years. Prof. Dr. Resch stated that Turkey ranks among the world's leading countries in health tourism and that thousands of people from all over the world choose Turkey for a wide range of health services because of its successful operation rates and geopolitical position. He said he found it highly valuable that a project offering alternative treatment methods is being developed in a region like Marmaris, which stands out for its sea and natural beauty.

"The most comprehensive and largest facility I have ever seen"

After touring Kızılbük Thermal Wellness Resort, Prof. Dr. Resch commented, noting that he had examined the most comprehensive and largest facility he had ever seen, saying, "Today I met a new project that excited me. This is the largest and most comprehensive facility I have ever seen. This is not just a place where you can enjoy the sea and have a holiday; you can come year-round and enjoy the thermal water. Visiting this water once a year will be good for your health. I am convinced and confident that this project will open a new chapter in Turkey's thermal water tourism industry. When this thermal facility becomes operational, I have no doubt that Germans will also visit this facility."
