The fourth cycle of the "Brave Swimmers" project, launched by Abdi İbrahim Vakfı in collaboration with Turkey Down Syndrome Association, has been successfully completed. Children with Down syndrome, who received swimming training over 16 weeks, celebrated their newly acquired skills together with their families at a certificate ceremony.
The Brave Swimmers project, run by Abdi İbrahim Vakfı founded by Abdi İbrahim, Turkey's healing force, in 2021, continues to support the social participation of children with Down syndrome through sports. In the fourth cycle of the project, carried out in collaboration with Turkey Down Syndrome Association, children participated in regular swimming training between 7 March and 27 June 2026.
Each Certificate Represents a Development Journey
Under the guidance of specialist trainers, the children not only developed swimming skills; they strengthened coordination, balance and motor skills while increasing their confidence, and showed significant progress in communicating with peers and moving independently.
At the certificate ceremony held at the end of the program, children received recognition for their efforts, while families witnessed the progress made throughout the training period. The certificates became a symbol of the children's dedication and achievements.
Stronger Social Participation Through the Unifying Power of Sport
The Brave Swimmers project, which regards swimming not merely as a sporting activity but as a holistic experience supporting children's physical, social and emotional development, also contributes to the spread of inclusive sports understanding. Through the project, which provides a safe and supportive learning environment, children have the opportunity to discover their abilities and take a more active role in social life.
Having successfully completed four cycles to date, Brave Swimmers will continue to accompany the development journey of children with Down syndrome in the years ahead and generate social benefit through sports.
