How to Become a Foster Family for Earthquake-Affected Children? The earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş and felt in Gaziantep, Hatay, Adana, Osmaniye, Diyarbakır, Adıyaman, Malatya, Kilis and Şanlıurfa caused devastating effects. In the disaster zone where search and rescue operations are underway intensively, the conditions for becoming a Foster Family for earthquake-affected children have been announced by the Ministry of Family and Social Services.  

How Can We Become Foster Families for Earthquake-Affected Children?

According to a written statement from the Ministry of Family and Social Services; children whose families and relatives cannot be reached are first admitted to institutions affiliated with the ministry, where they receive safe care, and subsequently efforts are made to locate their families. For earthquake-affected children whose families cannot be reached, those already on the waiting list and the placement process with existing foster families will continue. New foster family candidates who apply will be able to submit their applications through e-Government or directly to the Family and Social Services Provincial Directorate of the province where they reside outside the earthquake zone.

Foster Family Requirements

- You are a Turkish citizen, - You are between 25-65 years of age, - You reside permanently in Turkey, - You have a regular income, - You are at least a primary school graduate, - You are not the biological parent or guardian of the child.

Documents Required for Application

- Criminal record certificate, - Certified copy of document showing employment, income and social security status, - Certified copy of document showing educational status, - Health committee report confirming that the prospective foster family members and anyone living with them have no physical disability, mental health issues or contagious diseases.
