Danfoss Launches New Solution for Safe Hot Gas Injection Control
The ICSH Dual-Position Solenoid Valve was designed in compliance with safety recommendations published by IIAR (International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration) regarding soft application of hot gas defrost.
In this context, the valve provides gradual and time-controlled opening to allow pressure to build up smoothly in the evaporator before opening to 100% flow for full defrost. This two-step approach enhances the safety of the refrigeration system by preventing hydraulic shocks.
Unless the soft opening in the first step is enabled, the ICSH valve prevents full opening in the second step thanks to its defined configuration.
The ICSH Dual-Position Solenoid Valve opens the flow in the main valve in two steps via two EVM-NC solenoid valve pilots. The delay between the two steps can be controlled with a PLC, control unit or timer. When the EVM-NC actuates for the first step, the main valve opens to approximately 20% of its full capacity.
After a predefined delay period, the EVM-NC will actuate for the second step and the main valve opens completely at 100% capacity. Designed based on the ICV valve station structure, the ICSH Dual-Position Solenoid Valve has the same function module as the ICS and ICV valve body. The top cover is also compatible with ICF 50 and ICF 65.
