Clariant's 2018 Total Sales Reached CHF 6.623 Billion
Clariant announced that its total sales for 2018 reached CHF 6.623 billion, surpassing the 2017 figure of CHF 6.377 billion.
This entirely organic growth corresponds to 5% expansion in local currency terms and stemmed from advances across all business divisions, with Catalysis leading the way. Higher volumes and pricing formed the foundation of the growth.
Throughout the year, all regions contributed to sales increases in local currency terms. The largest expansion, at 12%, occurred in South America. Asian sales rose 7%, driven largely by positive momentum in China and India.
North America saw sales growth of 5%. Both Europe and the Middle East and Africa achieved 2% growth.
The strong sales performance throughout the year stemmed from growth across all business divisions, notably Care Chemicals, Catalysis and Natural Resources.
In the Care Chemicals division, sales increased 7% in local currency terms, driven largely by Consumer Care products. Catalysis sales recorded substantial growth of 11% in local currency terms, with organic sales growth in this area reaching 8%.
In the Natural Resources division, sales grew 8% in local currency terms, with this expansion sourced significantly from rising demand in the Oil and Mining Services division and strong performance in the Functional Minerals division.
In the Plastics and Coatings division, sales increased 1% in local currency terms, driven particularly by robust regional growth in South America.
