Clariant and Neste Partner for Sustainable Industrial Solutions

A partnership agreement has been signed between Clariant and Neste, the world's renewable and sustainable diesel supplier and specialist in implementing renewable chemical solutions. In its product development process, Clariant will use Neste's renewable hydrocarbons, thereby increasing the number of renewable raw-material-based products in its portfolio. As a result, there will be an increase in sustainable solutions for various sectors such as adhesives, plastics and coatings. Clariant Board Member Christian Kohlpaintner made the following comments on the matter: "Sustainability is one of Clariant's five strategic pillars. Neste partnership we have established is an important step towards providing Clariant and its customers with a sustainable future. This collaboration is exemplary in terms of offering our customers a sustainability advantage in competition and the value chain."

Clariant Licocene® performance polymers and waxes are preferred in adhesives, plastics and coatings sectors due to their superior sustainability and performance during use.

Thanks to the Neste partnership, Clariant will also have the opportunity to offer sustainable polyolefin solutions derived from renewable hydrocarbons. Neste President and CEO Peter Vanacker spoke about the collaboration: "This collaboration brings together Clariant's extensive expertise in various adhesive, plastic and coating applications with Neste's expertise in bio-based materials for renewable solution applications. Through this partnership, both companies' sustainable product range will have expanded to provide maximum value to both various sectors' sustainable brands and their own customers." Gloria Glang, Vice President of Clariant's Global Advanced Surface Solutions Division, stated: "Improving our sustainability performance, reducing our carbon footprint and reducing our dependence on crude oil is of great importance for society, the environment and younger generations. Through Clariant's collaboration with Neste, we will be rapidly moving towards our goal of becoming a solution supplier that brings truly sustainable solutions to the additives market, contributing positively to our customers' targets and improving end applications." The C2/C3 monomers used as raw materials are produced from 100% renewable hydrocarbons obtained by Neste from residues and waste raw materials such as used cooking oils and renewable vegetable oils. These C2 and C3 monomers will replace materials that Clariant currently uses to develop advanced polyolefin solutions for various applications.
