SOLUTION FOR SKIN IMPERFECTIONS: BARIUM SULFATE B-MM AND E+508

As HD Uluslararası Ticaret, we supply numerous raw materials for soft focus effects and concealing skin imperfections in cosmetics. Barium Sulfate B-MM and E+508 are raw materials produced by Easthill and ABC Nanotech, companies of South Korean origin, for which we hold exclusive distribution rights. We provide this solution with 2 different textures according to our customers' projects: 1. Soft focus effect that can conceal skin blemishes and imperfections while preserving natural skin tone. 2. All imperfections can be covered with intensive applications. For natural concealers, Barium Sulfate B-MM is one of the best solutions. Barium Sulfate B-MM is a powder obtained by subjecting pure white barium sulfate with magnesium myristate to surface treatment. Barium sulfate can preserve the appearance of natural skin and covers blemishes on the skin, but it has a high kinetic coefficient of friction (COF). Magnesium myristate has a smooth structure and very high skin compatibility. When magnesium myristate is treated with barium sulfate, the frictional force of the molecule decreases and a velvety texture sensation is provided. At the same time, while being hydrophilic, it acquires hydrophobic properties. The refractive indices of synthetic mica, titanium dioxide and human skin are 1.56, 2.76 and 1.60 respectively. Titanium dioxide, which has a higher refractive index than skin, causes loss of natural skin tone while concealing skin imperfections. However, barium sulfate has a refractive index of 1.64 and can lightly conceal skin imperfections while preserving natural skin tone. At the same time, Barium Sulfate B-MM has a smooth, soft and velvety texture. It is compatible with skin and adheres very well to the skin. For this reason, it provides long-lasting makeup durability and does not change color when combined with sebum. It also provides good resistance in drop tests.

Soft Focus Effect of Barium Sulfate

Figure 1. We prepared 90 μm lacquer films with a 9:1 dilution ratio using a 4-shade applicator to demonstrate the soft focus effect. Titanium dioxide is very opaque and does not appear natural, and synthetic mica is too transparent to cover blemishes. However, barium sulfate can preserve natural skin tone with a soft focus effect.

Kinetic Friction Test

Figure 2: When barium sulfate was treated with magnesium myristate, the kinetic energy coefficient was significantly reduced. Barium Sulfate B-MM can provide a smoother and softer feel on the skin surface.

Hydrophobicity Test

Figure 3: While barium sulfate is hydrophilic, Barium Sulfate B-MM demonstrated hydrophobic properties.

Drop Test

Figure 4. A drop test was performed to check the stability of the compressed powder. For example, 10 grams are placed in a mold and pressed at 80 MPa for 5 seconds. The molded product is then dropped from a height of 70 cm until it breaks. Compared to mica, barium sulfate and Barium Sulfate B-MM are more stable in the drop test. Figure 5. The sample using mica broke into pieces 3 times. However, when barium sulfate or Barium Sulfate B-MM is used, it has 3-fold stability.

Long Lasting Effect After Sebum Absorption

Figure 6. Sebum wetting was confirmed. Barium sulfate and Barium Sulfate B-MM retain their whiteness after being wetted by sebum, but mica or sericite becomes dull and darkens. For the test method, 1.8 g sample is mixed with 0.9 g artificial sebum to provide color change. Artificial sebum is prepared with caprylic/capric triglyceride, isostearic acid, and squalene in a 59:24:17 ratio. In the high and intensive concealer category, we offer E+508 from the PMSQ series of ABC NANOTECH, one of our South Korean suppliers. E+508 is a type of Polymethylsilsesquioxane with a size of 0.8μm designed for high concealing power, non-porous. While we offer special series in the PMSQ series from 0.8 to 10μm in size (E+540, 520, 710...), as particle size decreases, the concealing effect increases, making E+508 an unrivaled raw material in intensive concealing. It is highly opacified to conceal skin imperfections. (Black spots, scars, wrinkles) It has a much better texture compared to pigment titanium. It has high heat resistance and chemical stability.
