CALL Energy to Double Solar Energy Capacity in Zambia

CALL Energy, a subsidiary of YEO Teknoloji in the field of renewable energy investments, has signed a preliminary agreement for a new investment to increase its solar energy capacity in Zambia as part of its growth strategy in Africa.

CALL Energy, a renewable energy investment subsidiary of YEO Teknoloji, has signed a preliminary agreement for a new solar energy capacity expansion project in Zambia as part of its growth strategy in Africa.

The company will implement a second-phase 60 MWp solar energy investment on the same site, in addition to the 60 MWp solar power plant and 20 MWh battery energy storage system project whose financing has already been completed and construction has begun. This will double CALL Energy's total installed solar energy capacity in the country.

Total capacity to reach 120 MWp
With the second-phase investment coming online, CALL Energy's solar energy capacity in Zambia will increase to 120 MWp. This expansion will strengthen the company's renewable energy portfolio in the country while also contributing to its growth targets in Africa.

Long-term sales plan with 20-year PPA model
The electricity generated in the second phase is envisioned to be evaluated under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) planned to be signed with Petrodex Energy Trading Zambia Limited.

The long-term PPA model provides predictable revenue structure for the project while contributing to Zambia's rising energy demand and supply security.

In the financing process, Standard Bank Group prepared the conditions precedent document for the project. Work on the process continues with relevant stakeholders.

Integrated model growing in Africa
CALL Energy's investment development and operations capability is progressing in an integrated structure with YEO Teknoloji's EPC and energy storage solutions.

Engineering, procurement, installation, grid integration and high-voltage infrastructure will be carried out by YEO Teknoloji under the project scope, while energy storage systems will be provided by Reap Battery.

Target: 1 GW installed capacity by 2030
CALL Energy Chief Executive Officer Sacit Akbaş, in his assessment regarding the company's international growth strategy, stated that they are focusing on selective and scalable investments in line with the target of 1 GW of installed capacity in operation by 2030.

Akbaş emphasized that Zambia holds an important position in their Africa strategy with its high solar potential and long-term PPA structure, noting that the second-phase investment strengthens their presence in the region.
