Arkema expands with the acquisition of Afinitica, an ambitious brand in the engineering sector. Arkema is growing through the acquisition of Afinitica, a Spanish company specializing in engineering adhesives and instant adhesives. Afinitica is also known as a cyanoacrylate specialist. This acquisition will enable Bostik to develop a strong position in adhesives used in robust markets such as electronics and medical equipment, as well as in the manufacturing and application of durable consumer goods. Afinitica has developed and patented a highly innovative production process for cyanoacrylate monomers used in the formulation of instant engineering adhesives. This process enables a broader range of applications compared to conventional cyanoacrylates. The new adhesives formulated by Afinitica can be used on all types of surfaces and materials (metal, wood, ceramic, plastic, etc.). These adhesives, which offer various advantages and are odorless, do not irritate surfaces and leave no residue. Afinitica's instant adhesive products are used particularly in high-value niche applications in the electronics market, in many fields such as automotive and communications, and in optical and medical device markets. Strong growth is being experienced across all areas of daily life, thanks to increased electronics usage. With this acquisition, Bostik will expand its existing durable assembly markets and simultaneously accelerate its development in these markets.
