BMS Appoints New Medical Director for Turkey

Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), a biopharmaceutical company developing and bringing innovative treatments to market globally, has made a new appointment in Turkey. As of 1 August 2024

Bristol Myers Squibb Turkey continues its organizational restructuring, known for making significant contributions to employee development and offering career opportunities both domestically and internationally. The Medical Directorship of BMS Turkey has been entrusted to Dr. Çağlar Karakurum, who has held important positions in the sector for many years. 

With 25 years in the healthcare sector, Dr. Karakurum has authored numerous successful projects. Since 2006, he has held significant roles in the pharmaceutical industry, including medical strategic planning, management committees, and leadership teams at local, regional, and global levels.

Dr. Karakurum has experience at several institutions in the sector, having served at Roche Turkey, Almirall HQ Spain, Novartis HQ Switzerland, and GSK MENA-CIS Region in Turkey. Most recently at Boehringer Ingelheim, he held the roles of Country Medical Director in Turkey, Medical Affairs Director for IMETA Region in the UAE, and Global Medical Oncology Team Lead in Germany.

As of 1 August, Dr. Karakurum became a member of both the TIMER Medical Leadership Team and the BMS Turkey Leadership Team.
