Turkish Logistics Firms See Rise in Benelux Import Shipments

Benelux Import Shipments Entrusted to Turkish Logistics Companies In recent years, trade between Turkey and the Benelux countries has been increasing, with both exports and imports on the rise. Import shipments from Benelux countries are being handled by Turkish logistics providers. From January to October 2021, imports from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg reached USD 8.6 billion, up 43 percent. In import shipments carried out by Turkish-registered vehicles from Benelux countries, a 37 percent increase was recorded between January and August.

90 Percent Partial Loads

The increase in foreign trade between Turkey and Benelux countries has also expanded the business volume of domestic logistics companies. Intermax Logistics, operating in this field, provides integrated logistics services between Turkey and European countries. Savaş Çelikel, Chairman of the Board of Intermax Logistics, said, "Our import shipments from Benelux countries, particularly in partial loads, increased by 75 percent, also aided by the advantages we provide our customers. We provide partial services at full-load transportation speed." Çelikel, noting that partial transportation provides significant advantages especially in terms of costs, reminded that this requires more organized structure compared to full-load transportation. Çelikel stated that Intermax Logistics has built a solid logistics network in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, in addition to Germany. Çelikel reported that they carry out 90 percent of import shipments in these countries as partial loads.

Çelikel noted that timely and damage-free delivery, cost advantage and the quality service provided by Turkish logistics companies are reasons why the vast majority of import shipments are carried out by Turkish-registered vehicles. Stating that as exports increased, export shipments also grew, resulting in many Turkish-registered vehicles going to these countries, Çelikel also drew attention to the truck driver shortage in the European logistics sector. Çelikel said, "Turkish logistics companies and their employees continue to serve their customers without disruption through extraordinary effort and dedication." Çelikel noted that they address their customers' logistics needs not only on the Europe-Turkey route but also within Europe through their offices in Germany. Çelikel stated, "We especially prioritize Turkish companies in our warehouses in Germany."
