Baumit Academy

Baumit is an Austria-based company with over 40 facilities in 30 countries. It is one of the leading and established companies in Europe's exterior facade thermal insulation systems, dry mortars and machine-applied ready-mix plasters sector. Baumit has been operating in Turkey since 2006.

Baumit is committed to maintaining values such as quality, standardization and environmentally conscious production across all countries it serves globally. Beyond these values, one of the most important areas of focus is education. Regular events are organized to inform both Baumit employees across all countries and Baumit customers about products. For example, orientation and training programs are held every two years at our Wöpfing facility for newly hired Baumit employees. Through this program, all employees joining the company are informed about both Baumit and its products. There is a special building within the factory premises for these training programs. This building is a former school. Now it serves as a training center for people in the Baumit world. As Baumit Turkey, we are taking important steps to reflect the importance our global company places on education to our own market. Both regarding facade systems and other packaged dry mortars, the awareness of the sector and professional users increases every day. However, there is still more to be done in this area.

As one of Europe's largest exterior facade thermal insulation system manufacturers, since we entered the Turkish market, we have emphasized the importance of both sector professionals and individual awareness regarding this subject.

We believe that awareness will contribute to the sector's development perhaps even more than product and service quality. Creating safe buildings begins with the use of products manufactured according to standards and suitable for the need. Correct application of these products is just as important as their selection for building safety, comfort and longevity. While we contribute to the work carried out within the associations we are affiliated with, we continue our efforts to increase awareness through our own communication channels and to create public consciousness. At this point, in this year when we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we established Baumit Academy as one of the important steps we believe will give significant momentum to our educational efforts. At Baumit Academy, established in our new office building, we open our doors to everyone from professionals to end consumers who wish to be informed about this subject. Operating since March 2016, the Academy conducts training and seminars—transferring latest systems and technical knowledge to professionals, product and application techniques for applicators, and thermal insulation systems in general, facts and misconceptions about insulation for end consumers. We are also in contact with universities. We aim to contribute to the education of students in architecture and civil engineering faculties by drawing on our knowledge and experience. To date, we have conducted nearly 10 training sessions on topics such as ground systems, facade systems and renovation, and silo product shipment. Our goal is to increase the level of knowledge in facade systems, plasters, caps and building chemistry product groups. The higher the knowledge level, the faster and healthier we believe the sector will develop in parallel.

System solutions in particular, correct selection of products suited to needs, and correct and proper execution of applications are very important for producing long-lasting buildings. Producing long-lasting buildings also contributes to the economy. Ultimately, optimizing resource use will provide this benefit.

Additionally, when considering facade systems in particular, we want to emphasize and establish in people's minds the subject of energy saving and energy-efficient buildings. We believe we must do our part to protect the increasingly diminishing green areas and slow global warming. We can start by individually reducing the amount of energy we consume in our homes. With exterior facade thermal insulation systems, two-way energy savings can be achieved by reducing heating costs in cold seasons and reducing air conditioning needs in hot seasons. We now all know that performing thermal insulation in both existing and new buildings will have a very large contribution to energy savings and the country's economy. We need to work to spread this awareness throughout the country. Baumit Academy will now be the information center where we provide benefit at this point. Throughout the year, we will work with different training and seminars targeting different audiences with different content to increase awareness, promote correct product selection and application, and serve as a consulting center for these product groups.
