Bartın University Concludes 4th R&D Project Market
BARTIN (AA) - Bartın University's 4th R&D Project Market attracted numerous projects from across Turkey. Following evaluations conducted by academics from various universities and industry representatives, owners of the most successful projects received various awards.
An awards ceremony was held for the organization, which Bartın University arranged thematically in the 'Smart Logistics and Integrated Regional Applications' specialization field.
Bartın University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik stated that the R&D Project Market aimed to bring together academics, small, medium and large-scale enterprises, R&D Innovation project owners, investors, entrepreneurs and students, creating significant interaction between stakeholders.
Çelik noted that project applications were received in 14 main themes, stating "115 projects passed the pre-evaluation. During the organization process, members of our Organization Board and 63 scientific board members consisting of faculty members and industry representatives from different provinces and universities across Turkey contributed to the peer review processes of the submitted projects."
Noting that they gathered with those who say 'I also have an idea' at a matter of pride, Bartın University Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun said "As a result of the efforts we have shown together with all our components, our goal is to increase interest in technology and raise awareness about Turkey's transformation into a society that produces national technology.
In all our work, which also aims to increase our country's qualified human resources, we say 'we are also here' in the journey of the 'National Technology Initiative'," he said.
Academic Performance and Project Awards Ceremony held
Bartın University has recently ranked among Turkey's fastest-growing higher education institutions. Within the scope of the 4th R&D Project Market event, an "Academic Performance and Project Awards Ceremony" was held at the university.
Bartın University presented "Academic Performance Awards" in 4 categories—Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze—to faculty members who published the most in journals indexed in internationally reputable databases in 2020 and who published in the highest impact factor journals.
Additionally, certificates of achievement were presented to faculty members who conducted projects lasting 12 months or longer that were supported by external funds in 2020.
Top projects won awards
In the 4th R&D Project Market, Selen Şenal came first with her project titled "ALGBIO", Furkan Bülbül came second with the project "Smart Pest and Fly Control System for Cities", and Aydın Sinan Apaydın came third with the project "CPR-M (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Machine)".
At the event where various awards were presented, Erdi Akman, İslim Esra Yılmazer and Özlem Ertekin earned honorable mention awards.
The organization also received substantial submissions in the high school category. Projects prepared by high school students were exhibited for 2 days within the scope of the event.
Following evaluation by the jury panel, first place went to Barış Mutlu with the "NOOD - Flood Prediction Algorithm" project, second place went to Taha Karayormuk with the project "Stationery and Packaging Materials from Hazelnut Husks", and third place went to Mehmet Kerem Gözlük with the project "Robotic Applications and IoT in Soil-based and Soilless Farming Practices".
In the high school category, Kübra Eylül Baysak, Zeynep Sena Kotin and Gülsüm Ceyda Tarhan received honorable mention awards.
