Banvit BRF's "Banvit BRF Forests" project reaches 50,000 trees as part of sustainability initiatives. According to the company statement, the 'Banvit BRF Forests' project plants an additional 10,000 saplings in Izmit, following previous plantings in Bandırma, Elazığ and Manisa. Banvit BRF, which conducts its operations with sustainability principles at the forefront, has taken a new step by expanding the 'Banvit BRF Forests' project from a total of 40,000 trees across 3 different regions to 50,000 trees. Banvit BRF created a 10,000-sapling Banvit BRF Forest at the Izmit Taşköprü afforestation area under the 'Centennial Forests' project, established by Ege Forest Foundation in commemoration of the Republic's 100th anniversary. At the afforestation area, a symbolic sapling-planting ceremony was attended by Ege Forest Foundation General Manager Perihan Öztürk and foundation executives, as well as Banvit BRF CEO Tolga Gündüz and senior company management. The company first launched the 40,000-tree "Banvit BRF Forests" project in 2021 in Bandırma, where its main production campus is located, in the Sahil Yenice neighborhood afforestation area with support from the General Directorate of Forestry. In 2022, in cooperation with Ege Forest Foundation, it planted 20,000 saplings in afforestation areas in Elazığ-Maden and Manisa-Yunt Mountain. Supporting afforestation efforts within its sustainability initiatives, Banvit BRF has expanded the 'Banvit BRF Forests' project to 50,000 trees with the 10,000 saplings most recently planted in Izmit Taşköprü.
'Our goal is to reach Net Zero by 2040'
In his remarks at the symbolic sapling-planting ceremony, Banvit BRF Chief Executive Officer Tolga Gündüz stated that the company understands the importance of sustainability for future generations and considers it among its responsibilities, noting: 'Both our global parent company and Banvit BRF aim to reach Net Zero by 2040. In line with this goal, afforestation efforts hold particular importance alongside many other projects we are pursuing. We are pleased to have planted 50,000 saplings across 4 different locations in our country in 3 years through our 'Banvit BRF Forests' project. We extend our thanks to the General Directorate of Forestry and Ege Forest Foundation for their valuable support. In the coming periods, we will continue our efforts to implement the 'Banvit BRF Forests' project in different regions of our country.' Ege Forest Foundation General Manager Perihan Öztürk noted that within the framework of protocols signed with the General Directorate of Forestry, they have supported the growth of more than 13 million saplings into trees and their integration into forests through afforestation efforts to date, continuing her remarks as follows: 'We have carried out these efforts through donations from individuals and organizations like Banvit BRF that care about the future of the world and make efforts in this regard. Combating the climate crisis threatening the world's future is only possible through cooperation of all institutions and organizations, NGOs, the private sector and public institutions. The Banvit BRF Forests project is one of the finest examples of such cooperation.' she evaluated.   Source
