BAB ARCHITECTS SHORTLISTED AS FINALIST AT WAF 2024
BAB Architects has been shortlisted as a finalist at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in the architectural world, in the "Inside - Workplace (Large)" category with the Anadolu Ajansı Istanbul General Directorate and Open Office project.
Led by Architect İrem Arıbaş and Interior Architect Hüseyin Beş, BAB Architects, which has signed architectural, interior design and set design projects in Turkey and across different geographies worldwide, demonstrated its success in reaching finalist status at the 2024 World Architecture Festival (WAF) awards, which have been bringing together the global architecture community for over a decade, with the Anadolu Ajansı Istanbul General Directorate and Open Office project designed with an open office concept for Anadolu Ajansı in the "Inside - Workplace (Large)" category.
The WAF 2024 awards, to be held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore between 6-8 November, received a total of 800 applications this year from many countries around the world across all categories. More than 480 finalists, projects and buildings will compete before an international jury panel composed of architects, academics and experts from different countries across 43 different subcategories under the main disciplines of "Completed Buildings", "Future Projects", "Landscape Projects" and "Interior Design Projects".
WAF 2024 finalist project Anadolu Ajansı Istanbul General Directorate and Open Office in the "Inside - Workplace (Large)" category comprises three basement levels, a ground floor and 12 standard floors, with a total built area of 15,000 square metres. BAB Architects, which carried out all interior design and supervision of the building, aimed to reflect the institution's prestige and innovative vision, including technological and infrastructural matters encompassing design, architectural planning and solutions, when creating the interior design concept of the project.
Light grey tones and American walnut furniture used on the upper management floor created a sophisticated backdrop that defined the project's modern atmosphere. BAB Architects designed an elliptical waiting area called "glass pavilion" surrounding the management offices and an extensive landscape project to provide a green environment throughout the floor. On the open office floors, a transparent work environment was created with functional divisions provided by elevation differences and custom-made furniture. Special colour choices created a calm atmosphere and became part of the award-winning design. On the first basement floor and ground floor, a modern design was created with curved forms aimed at creating dynamic and multipurpose common areas. These floors were also enveloped in a green atmosphere with extensive landscape arrangements.
With all these distinctive features, the Anadolu Ajansı Istanbul General Directorate and Open Office project, which will face the jury at WAF 2024 in the "Inside - Workplace (Large)" category, was also awarded "Silver" in the "Office Interiors" and "Interior Designer of the Year" categories at the International Design Awards (IDA) 2023 last year.
