ATO Completes Feasibility Project for Ferrochrome Investment

Chamber Completes Ferroalloy Investment Feasibility Project The "Feasibility Support Project for Ferroalloy Investment," implemented by Adana Chamber of Commerce (ATO) with support from the Çukurova Development Agency (ÇKA), has been completed.                 ATO President Atila Menevşe, commenting on the project results and feasibility report, stated: "Our Chamber's 'Feasibility Support for Ferroalloy Investment' project, prepared within the framework of ÇKA's 2020 Feasibility Support Program, qualified for agency funding and the feasibility report under the project was completed by the end of 2021. With the said report, it was concluded that an investment to convert chromite mineral, a natural resource of our country and region, into the end product ferroalloy (FeCr) would be viable should a ferroalloy facility with a capacity of 200,000 tonnes per year be established in Ceyhan-Yumurtalık." Menevşe stated that a ferroalloy facility to be established in Adana would make significant contributions to the national economy, reduce Turkey's dependence on ferroalloy imports, increase competitive strength in international markets through high-value-added product exports, and open doors for the stainless steel industry. Emphasizing that although ferroalloy is an end product of chromite mineral, it is also a raw material for an important industrial sector such as stainless steel, Atila Menevşe continued as follows: "Stainless steel consumption is one of the most important indicators of development. Therefore, should this facility be realized, this sector would also be supported. In the prepared feasibility report, it was considered that a stainless steel facility could also be established in addition to the facility to be built in the second phase, and investments were envisaged to be carried out in this direction. In this case, the aim is to serve two heavy industry sectors and contribute to regional development. Since the added value created through these transformations would remain in our country, both our nation and the investor would benefit from the realization of this investment. Additionally, one of the greatest contributions the facilities to be established would make for our region would be creating employment opportunities." Noting that Adana ranks among the provinces most suitable for investment in many sectors with its advantages such as qualified labor force, logistics, geographic location and climate, Menevşe invited investors to Adana, stating: "Should the ferroalloy facility be realized, both its investor and the regional and national economy would benefit."
