ASAŞSANAT Launches Sculpture Competition

ASAŞSANAT, which brings industry and art together on a production platform, is holding its biennial Sculpture Competition this year under the theme "Forms Defying Gravity". The competition invites artists to reconsider weight, balance and spatial perception through the physical properties of aluminium.

ASAŞSANAT, which brings industry and art together on a production platform, is holding its biennial Sculpture Competition this year under the theme "Forms Defying Gravity". Now in its fifth edition, the competition invites artists to reconsider weight, balance and spatial perception through the physical properties of aluminium.

This year's theme aims to address the relationship between lightness and durability, the balance between void and mass, and the dialogue between form and space from an artistic perspective. The competition calls for original and innovative projects from artists that question the decisive effect of gravity and transform the technical possibilities of the material into a creative expression.

ASAŞSANAT brings together industry's production capacity with art's creative potential, offering participants an exceptional production experience. Following the evaluation process, winning projects will be produced at 1:1 scale with technical support in ASAŞ's production infrastructure, with production costs covered by the company. In this way, artists will have the opportunity to realize their ideas with industrial production capabilities.

The competition's jury comprises experts from art, architecture and various disciplines including Süleyman Saim Tekcan, Meriç Hızal, Safa Bayar Yavuz, Seçkin Pirim, Emre Arolat, Mert Ege Köse and Demet İncirci. Evaluation will take place on 16 May 2026 based on models, with results announced to the public on 20 May 2026. Winners will receive prizes: First Prize: USD 5,000, Second Prize: USD 3,000, Third Prize: USD 2,000 and Honourable Mention: USD 1,000.

The ASAŞSANAT Sculpture Competition is not merely a prize process; it functions as a powerful production platform that makes the interaction between art and industry visible. By encouraging interdisciplinary thinking, the competition aims to bring a new perspective to the relationship between material and form.
