Aksa Enerji Starts Production at the Talimercan Power Plant in Uzbekistan

Aksa Enerji has commenced commercial operation of the first units of a 430 MW natural gas combined-cycle power plant under construction in Uzbekistan. Upon completion scheduled for January 2025, the plant will increase the company's installed capacity in Uzbekistan to 1,170 MW.

Aksa Enerji, operating 10 power plants across 7 countries with 2,644 MW of installed capacity, brought online the first 6 units of its 430 MW natural gas combined-cycle power plant in Talimercan, Uzbekistan, in approximately 9 months. Construction of the plant began in January 2024, with the remaining units targeted for commissioning during 2024. Full-capacity operation of the plant is planned for January 2025. This will bring Aksa Enerji's installed capacity in the country to 1,170 MW.

Cemil Kazancı, Chairman and CEO of Aksa Enerji, noting that the company continues its investments uninterruptedly with the aim of becoming a global player in the energy sector, stated: "This significant investment in Uzbekistan is part of Aksa Enerji's global growth strategy. In our long-term approach to the Uzbekistan journey, as the largest Turkish investor in the country, we brought three power plants with 740 MW of installed capacity in the cities of Tashkent and Bukhara online in a record timeframe of 12 months. Now, as we continue our path with new success stories, we take pride in strengthening the energy supply security of the region with our new power plant investment in Talimercan," he said.

Aksa Enerji is successfully executing the Talimercan plant investment under an agreement reached in November 2023 with NEGU (National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan), which operates under the Uzbekistan Ministry of Energy. The natural gas required for electricity generation at the plant is supplied free of charge by the Government of Uzbekistan, while the selling price of the generated electricity will be determined within the framework of a 25-year USD-denominated guaranteed capacity payment. This agreement further demonstrates Aksa Enerji's success in overseas energy investments while reinforcing Uzbekistan's leading role in meeting energy supply security.
