AKINCI Sets Another Record

Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV, developed nationally and independently by Baykar, broke its own national aviation altitude record for the third time, reaching 45,118 feet (13,716 meters). Presidency of Defence Industries under the leadership of the AKINCI Project, the Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle) developed nationally and independently by Baykar, the Bayraktar AKINCI B model equipped with 2 engines of 750 horsepower each, raised its own national aviation altitude record to greater heights.

Unrivaled

To be handed over to the Air Force Command, in the presence of delegations from the Presidency of Defence Industries and Air Force Command, it took off on 21 June 2022 at 19:31 to conduct endurance, high altitude and high speed tests. It broke the national altitude record again, surpassing the highest altitude reached by a nationally developed aircraft. Within the scope of the test, Bayraktar AKINCI B, which climbed to an altitude of 45,118 feet (13,716 meters), returned to the Bayraktar AKINCI Flight, Training and Test Center at Çorlu Air Base Command after a flight lasting 20 hours and 23 minutes.

Broke altitude record 3 times

The Bayraktar AKINCI A model, which operates with a configuration of 2 engines of 450 horsepower each, broke the record by climbing to an altitude of 38,039 feet during the test conducted on 8 July 2021. The Bayraktar AKINCI B model raised its own record higher by climbing to 40,170 feet on 11 March 2022. On 22 June 2022, while climbing to 45,118 feet, it broke the altitude record for the third time.

6,406 kilometers distance

Delegations from the Presidency of Defence Industries and Air Force Command at the Bayraktar AKINCI Flight, Training and Test Center witnessed these historic moments for the acceptance activities of Bayraktar AKINCI B aircraft to be handed over to Air Force Command. AKINCI B successfully completed the test activities after covering a total distance of 6,406 kilometers during a flight lasting 20 hours and 23 minutes, during which high speed trials were also conducted. First time in Anatolian Eagle Bayraktar AKINCI B, alongside ongoing test activities, is simultaneously participating in the Anatolian Eagle Exercise. During the record-breaking flight, it performed a mission flight within the exercise scenario in the Eastern Mediterranean. Thus, since 29 August 2021 when it entered the Turkish Armed Forces inventory, it participated for the first time in a comprehensive Air Force exercise.

Took off from Batman and engaged targets in the Aegean

Also in June, during the EFES-2022 Joint Live Fire Exercise conducted in Seferihisar, İzmir, it took off from its base located in Batman and successfully engaged targets designated in the Doğanbey Live Fire Exercise Area in Seferihisar, and returned to its base in Batman.

Export talks continue

Export contracts have been signed so far with 4 countries, and for Bayraktar TB2 UCAV with 22 countries. Within the scope of the concluded contracts, deliveries of Bayraktar TB2 UCAV continue, while Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV and ground systems are targeted to be delivered periodically starting from 2023. Baykar, which achieved USD 664 million in S/UCAV system exports in 2021, became the company with the highest exports in the defense and aviation sector according to data announced by the Turkish Exporters Assembly.
