Akfen Renewable Energy has published its 2025 TSRS-Compliant Sustainability Report. The company generated 1,645.9 GWh of renewable electricity in 2025 – equivalent, the report notes, to the annual electricity consumption of some 700,000 households. Wind and hybrid generation grew by 14.7 per cent year on year.
Akfen Renewable Energy has shared with the public its 2025 TSRS-Compliant Sustainability Report, setting out its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance as well as its approach to climate-related risks and opportunities.
According to the report, the company generated a total of 1,645.9 GWh of renewable electricity in 2025. Based on published figures for annual household electricity consumption, this output corresponds to the annual electricity needs of approximately 700,000 households.
This volume of generation demonstrates Akfen Renewable Energy’s operational scale in renewable energy and stands as one indicator of its contribution to Türkiye’s low-carbon energy transition.
Installed capacity reaches 887 MW
Akfen Renewable Energy’s diversified generation portfolio was one of the key factors balancing the effect of variable hydrological and climate conditions on output.
While hydroelectric generation fell 21.5 per cent year on year in 2025 because of hydrological conditions, output from solar power plants was close to the previous year’s level.
Electricity generated from the company’s wind and hybrid portfolio, by contrast, rose to 1,099.6 GWh, an increase of 14.7 per cent year on year. The share of wind and hybrid solar investments in total installed capacity reached around 60 per cent.
The company’s total installed capacity rose to 887 MW.
The report emphasised that a diversified portfolio structure combining wind, solar and hydroelectric resources helps make generation performance more resilient to different climate and resource conditions.
First sustainability report under TSRS
For Akfen Renewable Energy, 2025 also marked the beginning of a new era in sustainability reporting.
In its report, prepared for the first time in line with Turkish Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS) S1 and TSRS S2, the company addressed its sustainability and climate-related risks and opportunities within the framework of governance, strategy, risk management, metrics and targets.
Although not required to disclose them in the first application period under TSRS, Akfen Renewable Energy also voluntarily calculated and reported its 2025 Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
Independent limited assurance was also obtained for selected environmental, social and governance indicators in the report.
Resource efficiency, technology and operational resilience to the fore
The report covered not only energy generation performance but also the company’s work on long-term operational resilience.
Resource efficiency, the use of new technologies, employees, social impact and the protection of biodiversity were among the report’s prominent themes.
Alongside making its energy portfolio more resilient to the risks climate change may bring, Akfen Renewable Energy aims to pursue growth potential in wind and solar energy and to advance its work in electricity storage and new technologies.
Social impact work for local stakeholders
Social impact work also occupied an important place in the company’s approach to sustainability.
Under the “Take Precautions, Stay Safe” project, financed by Akfen Renewable Energy and coordinated by TİKAV, work on disaster preparedness and disaster management was carried out at 28 different locations across Türkiye in 2025. Around 3,000 people were reached through the project.
The company also continued its support for local stakeholders in areas such as infrastructure, social needs and safety in the regions where its power plants are located.
Biodiversity monitoring continued
Work on protecting biodiversity was also among Akfen Renewable Energy’s environmental performance themes.
In 2025 flora, fauna and bat monitoring was carried out within wind power plant (WPP) and energy storage facility (ESF) projects. Ecological reporting activities also continued in a way that supports the creation of statistical data.
In addition, an application enabling power plant employees to report digitally any observations of live or dead animals around the facilities was used as part of the biodiversity monitoring work.
The target: strengthening the renewable portfolio
In the coming period Akfen Renewable Energy plans to strengthen its renewable energy portfolio and to pursue growth opportunities particularly in wind and solar energy.
The company also aims to advance its work in electricity storage and new technologies, and to keep sustainability at the centre of its business model and corporate decision-making.
In doing so, Akfen Renewable Energy aims both to contribute to Türkiye’s low-carbon energy transition and to create long-term, resilient and sustainable value for all its stakeholders.
