110 Smart Canes from Abdi İbrahim Abdi İbrahim marked its 110th year of establishment with a meaningful corporate social responsibility project, providing 110 visually impaired students with WeWalk smart canes. The smart canes, a device that combines smartphones with mobility aids and developed and manufactured in Turkey by Turkish engineers, found their new owners at a dedicated event. The scope of the project, which began when Abdi İbrahim employees raised donations through a charity run at the 44th Istanbul Marathon, expanded with the company's allocation of corporate resources. Speaking about the opportunity to touch the lives of 110 visually impaired students in their 110th year of establishment, Abdi İbrahim CEO Dr. Süha Taşpolatoğlu stated, "The fundamental goal of our sustainability approach is to improve the lives we touch. In our social projects, volunteering is an area we greatly value. Our volunteer colleagues taking ownership of this project added value to it. We are greatly pleased to meet the smart cane needs of 110 of our students in our 110th year." Türkiye's healing force Abdi İbrahim launched a highly meaningful corporate social responsibility project for visually impaired students. In a project realized in cooperation with Young Guru Academy (YGA) and WeWalk, 110 visually impaired students received WeWalk smart canes. At an event held at KidZania in Istanbul Akasya, students both enjoyed their time while learning about professions and received their smart canes.

Speaking at the event, Abdi İbrahim CEO Dr. Süha Taşpolatoğlu said: "Eliminating the challenges disabled individuals face in daily life places certain responsibilities on both institutions and individuals. As Türkiye's healing force, Abdi İbrahim feels responsible for creating a better world, and we have worked toward this for 110 years. We are greatly pleased to have realized a project that truly reflects our identity. With the support of our valued project partner YGA, WeWalk, and KidZania for opening their doors to us, Abdi İbrahim presented smart canes to 110 of our students in commemoration of our institution's 110th year. The WeWalk Smart Cane Project took root through the seeds of kindness sown by our Abdi İbrahim volunteers. In our social projects, volunteering is an area we greatly value. In the initial phase, Abdi İbrahim employees ran in the 44th Istanbul Marathon for this project, securing resources to cover the smart cane needs of 10 of our students. As Abdi İbrahim, we decided to take ownership of these steps our colleagues took for kindness and, by adding to the funds collected, expanded the project's scope to improve the lives of 110 students. We are delighted to support visually impaired students in meeting such a technology that will benefit them in every aspect of their lives. As Abdi İbrahim, we will continue to pursue goodness with our minds and hearts henceforth." he said.

Our goal at WeWalk is the participation of all visually impaired individuals in every aspect of life

A project that gives courage to visually impaired individuals

Bezmialem Vakıf University Department of Ophthalmology Chair Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hakan Özdemir also thanked Abdi İbrahim for their support of the project and spoke as follows: "For ophthalmologists, the most special story is undoubtedly saving a child from darkness and bringing them to light. You improve not only today but also the future. However, unfortunately this is not always possible. It is estimated that there are more than 40,000 visually impaired individuals in Istanbul alone. And 95 percent of these individuals cannot leave their homes even once a week. The WeWalk smart cane project, which brings color to the dark world of our visually impaired citizens and gives them courage, is therefore of great importance.
