3D Printer Produces Face Shield Masks

Turkey stands united in supporting healthcare workers battling the Coronavirus pandemic, which has rapidly affected the entire world and claimed thousands of lives.

One of the voluntary forms of support provided to healthcare workers came from mechanical engineer Ahmet Alp Çakıcı. A graduate of Özyeğin University and Openfab Makerlab specialist, Çakıcı aims to distribute protective face shields with visors that he produces using his own 3D printers to healthcare facilities in need through a platform. Openfab, a sharing hub established within Özyeğin University to support entrepreneurship and maker culture, and Ahmet Alp Çakıcı will work together during this period. 3D printer owners, engineers, designers and software developers who united on social media and launched a collective production movement called "3D Support" are producing protective face shields with visors for healthcare workers. To support this platform where those in need meet with volunteer producers, Ahmet Alp Çakıcı and the Openfab team began producing protective face visors for healthcare workers using 3D printers.
