AKOM Warns: Today Will Be the Hottest Day
IBB Disaster Affairs Department AKOM announced that the heat wave originating from Africa will increase its impact on much of Turkey, particularly Istanbul. With temperatures expected to hover around 39°C this afternoon and exceed 40°C in some regions, today will be the hottest day of the week.

With temperatures reaching around 39°C at midday today and exceeding 40°C in some regions, the week's hottest day is expected.
Strong Northern Winds Approaching But...
Northerly winds are expected to blow from evening onwards with intensity of 20-50 km/s intermittently until Sunday. While the northerly winds will prevent excessive daytime temperature increases, they will cause relative humidity in the air to rise between 40% and 85%. For this reason, oppressive heat conditions will continue through Sunday.
High Humidity Negatively Affects Health
Experts note that high humidity adheres to cell pores in the human body, leading to excessive sweating. The loss of fluids through perspiration makes it difficult for the body to regulate temperature. For this reason, citizens are advised to consume plenty of water and stay in shade as much as possible.
Watch Out Between 11:00–16:00
Caution is needed particularly between 11:00 and 16:00 hours against temperatures reaching dangerous levels for human and animal health. During these hours when sun rays are most direct;
Elderly people, pregnant women, those with respiratory disorders, and citizens with chronic diseases such as heart failure are advised not to stay in direct sunlight. Authorities are calling on citizens to be careful and take precautions against heat conditions.
