Sustainability Study from Akkim
Akkim Kimya has added a new initiative to its sustainability efforts. The company, which has signed national and international collaborations aimed at gender equality, has taken a leading role in the chemical industry by obtaining a loan from Garanti BBVA under the Gender Loan structure. Akkim Kimya, a signatory to the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, implements gender equality practices to prevent discrimination and support human rights.
The company continues its cooperation in line with the sustainable development goals established by the UN Global Compact, the world's largest sustainability initiative, and has participated in the "Target Gender Equality" program to support more women leaders and equal representation efforts.
Sustainable financial support was provided to Akkim Kimya through the "Gender Loan" structure, which Garanti BBVA launched as a world first. As the first company in the chemical industry to receive a Gender Loan, Akkim will accelerate its work focused on gender equality. The company's practices in this area will be evaluated using the methodology developed by Garanti BBVA, and the loan interest rate will be reduced accordingly.
Akkim Kimya General Manager Onur Kipri outlined the details of their gender equality initiatives. Stating that they will implement the actions they have identified in this field under the Akkimce brand, Kipri said: "As one of Turkey's leading chemical raw material manufacturers with 45 years of experience, we consistently prioritize the principles of gender equality and fairness in line with our social and economic development goals. With this in mind, we have planned our initiatives through 2025 under the Akkimce brand. This year, we became a signatory to the United Nations Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs).
