New Technology for Paper Pallet Wrapping Mondi partners with EW Technology to launch new machine for paper pallet wrapping. Mondi, a leading packaging and paper company, has partnered with EW Technology, an Austrian mechanical engineering firm, to launch a new paper pallet wrapping machine that offers greater efficiency and sustainability for small-to-medium production lines. The two companies collaborated to develop the innovative machine, addressing a gap in the pallet wrapping market identified by Mondi. The machine features two operating modes: fully automated for wrapping up to 60 pallets per hour, or semi-automated for wrapping 10-15 pallets per hour. The machine accommodates a full reel of Mondi's Advantage StretchWrap paper, enabling customers to replace conventional multi-layer plastic for pallet wrapping. Advantage StretchWrap is made entirely from virgin paper, derived from renewable materials, and is fully recyclable within Europe's existing paper waste streams. Mondi commissioned an independent life cycle assessment (LCA) comparing the innovative paper pallet packaging to traditional plastic stretch film, finding it outperformed virgin plastic stretch film across several impact categories, notably climate change, with a 62 percent lower carbon footprint. Additional user benefits are evident. A full reel of Advantage StretchWrap can be applied to the new machine without rewinding. Because the Advantage StretchWrap reel is larger, it requires replacement only every 400-600 pallets, compared to 40-80 pallets for plastic wrapping, delivering a more efficient solution.
