Mr. Selim Yağcı, Foam Production Group Manager of Yataş

We had a pleasant interview with Mr. Selim Yağcı, Foam Production Group Manager of Yataş, about the development of the company and products which serve to the sector.

Could you briefly tell our readers about yourself and your educational background?

I was born in Kayseri in 1985. I graduated from Gazi University Chemical Engineering department and started working in the industry in 2010 as a Foam Production Engineer at Yataş.

Could you tell us about the progress of your company from its establishment until today?

The foundation of Yataş, which is one of the pioneers in the industry today, was laid upon the establishment of Süntaş A.Ş., the first foam factory in Anatolia in 1976. In 1980, our company started to produce foam as well as foam mattresses and added spring mattresses to its product portfolio in 1984, home textile products in 1987 and sofa beds and seating groups in 1993. In 1996, we became the first company in the furniture industry to go public. As Yataş Group, we bring together a wide range of products from furniture to carpets, lighting to home textiles with Yataş Bedding and Enza Home brands. "In 2019, we will continue to be in millions of houses with Yataş Bedding, Enza Home and our new brand Divanev." In the first quarter of 2017 we acquired Divan Home and Divan Yatak brands to increase and strengthen our market share. In 2019, we will continue to be in millions of houses with Yataş Bedding, Enza Home and our new brand Divanev.

Could you tell us about Yataş's products, brands and services?

Yataş Bedding, the point of sale for "Sleep Health" and "Bedroom Decoration World" of Yataş Group, where beds, mattresses, headboards, pillows, quilts, coloured home textiles and products that complement bedroom decoration are offered, is one of the brands with the widest target audience and price range in Turkey with its product variety and pricing strategy. A pioneer in its field in Turkey, the generic brand Yataş continues to be the first brand that comes to consumers' minds regardless of which research is carried out regarding bed and related products. Winning numerous awards with its innovative product portfolio based on collaborations made with the largest technology manufacturers in the world, Yataş is the brand with the most varieties in Turkey. The Yataş textile group is divided into white and coloured home textiles; white home textiles consist of pillows, quilts and pillow-mattress protectors, and coloured home textiles consist of a range of products from bed linens and bedspread products to decorative cushions that bedrooms require. Our furniture brand Enza Home's product range includes bedrooms, sofa sets, seating groups, corner sets, dining rooms; in short, all the furniture a house needs. New brands Divanev and Divanuykusu, which reflect the experience of Yataş Group in furniture, sleeping and decoration products, will bring fresh perspectives to the industry in terms of both design and quality. In Divanev's collection, we will be offering teen room and baby room products for the first time, unlike Enza Home.

Could you please tell us about your product groups and which business sectors does Yataş serve in the industry?

We manufacture flexible polyether foam used for furniture and mattress production, mould systems and spray products for a Yataş special mattress. We can group them as standard foam, high resilience (HR) foam, visco foam, fireproof (FR) foam, optical and anthracite foams for automotive and textile sectors, and moulded orthopaedic visco foams. We provide foam cutting services to all industries with a wide variety of cutting systems that we have in addition to our production systems. The main industries we serve are couch and sofa manufacturing, bed and textile production, and laminating foams for automotive industry and shoe production.

What are the new technologies in manufacturing which you use?

First of all, I must say that we are a company that attaches great importance to technology and innovation. We have recently entered a renewal process in our factory regarding our foam production, stocking, transportation and cutting technologies. We have worked with leading companies in Turkey and globally on this issue and have achieved increases in capacity by improving our quality and productivity levels.
