EPIDERMIST 4.0 – Healthy & Flawless Skin Flawless skin quality is directly linked to its health. We need to know that we can count on our skin to react and adapt to all situations, protect and regenerate itself. In order to regulate these mechanisms, Epidermist 4.0 improves the physical and chemical barrier function while stimulating the synthesis of hyaluronic acid which helps the skin recover its optimal hydration levels.

Origins and Characteristics

EPIDERMIST 4.0 is a marine ExoPolySaccharide produced by a micro-organism (Vibrio sp) in the Aber Benoit, France. Epidermist 4.0 is produced by culture in bioreactor to obtain a pure, natural and characterized molecule (galactose and N-acetyl-glucosamine), that has no land-based equivalent. EPIDERMIST 4.0 reboots these 3 main functions of the skin to restore health, homogeneity, hydration and radiance:

1) Physical Barrier Function

• After 1 week of use: 1% Epidermist 4.0 increases the synthesis of differentiation proteins Improvement of cellular renewal: +31%

2) Hydra Memory Function

• After a single application: 0.02% Epidermist 4.0 stimulates the synthesis of hyaluronic acid Improvement of the autonomous rehydration capacity: +17%

Physical Barrier Function

The skin provides an effective barrier between the organism and the environment, preventing the invasion of pathogens and fending off chemical and physical assaults, as well as the unregulated loss of water and solutes (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19907407/). The physical barrier function is ensured by the upper layer of the epidermis: the stratum corneum, also called cornified layer. Skin surface and aspect directly result from the quality of this layer. The quality of the cornified layer results from the quality and well organization of keratinocytes differentiation. Keratinocytes differentiation is the key to rebooting physical barrier function. The primary function of the epidermis is to produce the stratum corneum. It is formed through the differentiation of the keratinocytes from the basal layer to the skin's surface layer. Many proteins are involved at each stage of this differentiation process. Epidermist 4.0 increases the synthesis of differentiation proteins and this increase will contribute to the formation of a higher quality physical barrier, and activation of stratum corneum renewal.

Hydra-memory Function

Applying moisturising products helps to rehydrate damaged skin, but not all skin types recover their optimal hydration levels in the same way. This ability to recover optimal hydration levels can be called: "Hydra Memory". This Hydra Memory involves a mechanism of pumping water into the dermis to rehydrate the upper layers: epidermis and stratum corneum. The skin's water memory will be all the more effective if the physical and chemical barrier functions perform well. This memory can also be improved by reinforcing the skin's ability to retain moisture, as does hyaluronic acid.

Chemical Barrier Function

Chemical barrier function brings 2 defence modules into play:

1. Innate immunity made up of proteins and antimicrobial peptides. Innate immunity, unlike acquired immunity, is already present within a child when it is born. It is the first line of defence against the infectious agents and pathogens which surround us. Innate immunity is activated immediately and works for 4 days.

After 4 weeks of use:
