Chemical Industry Celebrates the New Year with USD 14.425 Billion Export Increase
According to data of Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters' Association (İKMİB); Chemical exports in October was the second industry in Turkey with USD 1,604 million, while ten-months of chemical exports have reached USD 14,425 million.
In October, Egypt ranked first in exports with USD 132,431 thousand, while Spain ranked second with USD 101,165 thousand and Iraq ranked third with USD 93,244 thousand.
In October, exports of the chemical industry increased by 8.33 percent compared to October 2017 amounted to USD 1,509 million and became the second export industry of Turkey after automotive.
Egypt, Spain, Iraq, Germany, Malta, Saudi Arabia, Britain, Greece, USA and Italy were the top ten countries that exported chemicals in October.
The exports of chemical industry which is one of the locomotive industries of Turkey's export, in ten months of 2018, has increased 8.11 percent compared to the same period of 2017 and reached USD 14,425 million.
In this period, the largest export countries were Germany, Egypt, Spain, USA, Iraq, Italy, England, Greece, Netherlands and China respectively.

Chairman of Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters' Association (İKMİB), Adil Pelister, stated that the chemical industry had success in a row and was the second export industry in October. Pelister said: "We, chemical industry, have succeeded in being second with an export of USD 8.33 billion in October after our successes of being second industry in June and September. Our chemical industry is moving rapidly towards our target of being a persistent second export industry. As İKMİB, we organize many activities for our companies to acquire new markets and make new cooperation agreements. We perform successful events with our Abroad Turkey national participation organizations. We are very pleased to see the results of these activities. We are proud of our exporters and our sector. Chemical exports to Egypt was USD 93,686 thousand; in November 2018. In October 2018, the most exported products to Egypt were mineral fuels, mineral oils and products, various chemicals, washing preparations, organic chemicals, inorganic chemicals, paints, varnishes, inks and preparations and adhesives, glues and enzymes. Ten months of chemical exports to Egypt this year reached USD 867,150 thousand. In the October exports of the industry, other countries in the top ten after Egypt were Spain, Iraq, Germany, Malta, Saudi Arabia, England, Greece, USA and Italy.Advertisement
