2.49 Billion Dollars Export From the Chemicals Industry
According to data provided by Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters Association (IKMIB), exports of the chemicals industry in December reached USD 2.049 billion. Exports by the industry increased by 38.24 percent compared to December of the previous year. The industry achieved a 38.79 percent increase in 2021 compared to 2020 to achieve USD 25.004 billion worth of exports and set a new record to conclude the year as the second largest sector following the automotive industry.
Iraq Became the Highest Receiver of Exports in December
Iraq became the highest receiver of exports in December. Other countries that followed Iraq and became the top ten receiver of chemicals exports in December were Germany, Lebanon, the USA, Italy, Greece, Spain, Belgium, France, and Israel. Among the top ten countries, exports to Greece achieved the highest increase in December with 140.09 percent. Chemicals exports to Iraq in December reached USD 146.205 million in value. This figure increased by 37.41 percent compared to the same period of 2020. The product groups that were exported the most to Iraq in December were "plastics and products", "mineral fuels, mineral oils, and products", "essential oils, cosmetics, and soap," "pharmaceuticals," and "paints, varnishes, inks, and products". The top ten countries that received the highest exports in January-December 2021 were the Netherlands, Germany, Iraq, the USA, Italy, Greece, Belgium, Spain, Britain, and Lebanon."Plastics and Products" Was the Highest Exported Product Group in December
Plastics and products became the highest exported chemicals and products group in December with USD 848.512 million worth of exports. The second group was mineral fuels, mineral oils, and products with USD 629.480 million worth of exports while inorganic chemicals occupied the third place with USD 186.847 million worth of exports. Inorganic chemicals were followed by pharmaceuticals, essential oils, cosmetics and soap, rubber and rubber products, various chemical agents, paints, varnishes, inks, and their products, organic chemicals, and cleaning products. The highest increase in exports in December was in the mineral fuels, mineral oils, and products sub-sector with 113.87 percent.Advertisement
