Turkey Logistics Portal to Launch Soon

Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Chair İsmail Gülle stated at the presentation of the 2021 Export Report that seeing the future today is necessary to prepare for tomorrow, and that they continue their work in this direction. Speaking about events that occurred in 2020, a difficult year for both exporters and the entire world, Gülle noted that the most serious economic stagnation since World War II took place, yet Turkey was one of only two G-20 countries to close the year with growth despite such challenging circumstances, and that they never halted production and exports despite all difficulties. Gülle reported that during this period, together with exporter associations, they brought together thousands of exporters with foreign buyers through 62 virtual trade missions in 54 countries, and organized 10 virtual trade fairs. Gülle stated that this is the third edition of the report, which has now become a traditional publication, and that they are sharing their new visions and roadmaps. He indicated that this year's report theme is "Transformation Process in Global Supply Chains." Noting that countries experienced the drawbacks of depending on a single source in the supply chain with the pandemic, Gülle continued: "The world is now aware that it cannot depend on products from a single region or factory. When supply chain crisis peaked, our country stood out as an alternative reliable supplier. In our report, we shared the work we have done to guide our exporters in correctly understanding this change. Within our report, we shared four main topics: global economy and Turkey's 2020 performance and 2021 expectations, medium and long-term trends in global trade, transformation process in global supply chains, and our assembly's 2021 agenda." İsmail Gülle expressed that their purpose in publishing the report is "to enable exporters to move forward with confident steps toward the future without breaking away from yesterday and today, in a period when change and transformation in world trade and economy are occurring so rapidly." Gülle made the following statements: "Our country is among the countries that can benefit the most from changes in global supply structures. Turkey's possession of product and sector diversity in industrial production with a developed supplier industry, flexible and rapid production structure, high product standards and compatibility with EU standards, possession of strong logistics companies and services, high port and transportation capacity and developed export financing opportunities, demonstrate that Turkey is the most important potential country in supply for Europe. TİM Chair Gülle continued: "According to our sector-based calculations, we expect that by 2035, the sector with the highest export growth in our country will be 'defense and aviation industry' with 425 percent growth. We forecast that this will be followed by aquatic products and animal products with 297 percent, machinery and parts with 179 percent, carpets with 164 percent, and jewelry sector with 156 percent. Regarding global demand, the sectors expected to rank in the top 3 by 2025 are respectively 'chemicals and chemical products', 'electrical and electronics' and 'automotive industry', and we expect this ranking to remain unchanged by 2035."
