Türkiye Reaches Historic High in Exports to Germany
Turkey continues to reach record highs in exports to Germany, its locomotive market. Despite concerns about global economic activity, Turkey remains committed to maintaining strong competitive position in global markets.
Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) data shows that Turkey achieved an all-time high first-quarter export of USD 4.876 billion to Germany.
Turkey's exports to Germany in the first quarter increased by 0.4 percent compared to the same period last year, with Germany accounting for 7.9 percent of Turkey's total exports.
Germany thus remained Turkey's largest export destination. Germany was followed by the United States with USD 2.965 billion, Italy with USD 2.903 billion, the United Kingdom with USD 2.760 billion, and France with USD 2.483 billion.
Largest export growth recorded to Russian Federation
In the first quarter, Turkey recorded its largest export growth by value to the Russian Federation. Turkey's exports to the Russian Federation increased by USD 1.415 billion. Export growth to the Russian Federation was followed by Saudi Arabia with USD 541.906 million, France with USD 430.848 million, the United Arab Emirates with USD 262.722 million, and Switzerland with USD 257.513 million. In January-March, Turkey exported USD 2.475 billion to the Russian Federation, USD 611.816 million to Saudi Arabia, USD 1.023 billion to the United Arab Emirates, and USD 529.519 million to Switzerland.Industrial products in greatest demand
From a sectoral perspective, the industrial sector stood out in exports to Germany. The top 9 sectors exporting the most to the country all fall within the industrial group. Accordingly, the automotive industry led exports to Germany with USD 1.273 billion, followed by apparel and clothing with USD 861.569 million, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with USD 444.294 million, chemicals and chemical products with USD 362.667 million, electrical and electronics with USD 345.010 million, machinery and components with USD 267.803 million, steel with USD 235.188 million, air conditioning industry with USD 190.840 million, and textiles and raw materials with USD 104.014 million.Automotive industry leads in export growth
The automotive industry also ranked first in export growth to Germany with USD 174.324 million compared to the same period last year. The automotive industry was followed by steel with USD 30.711 million, cereals, legumes, oilseeds and products with USD 27.536 million, electrical and electronics with USD 26.489 million, and fresh fruits and vegetables with USD 17.838 million in export growth to the country. Meanwhile, cereals, legumes, oilseeds and products exported to Germany in the first quarter of the year totaled USD 92.263 million, while fresh fruits and vegetables reached USD 68.722 million. Exports to the country comprised USD 2.066 billion from Istanbul, USD 642.201 million from Bursa, USD 442.351 million from Izmir, USD 306.549 million from Kocaeli, and USD 221.657 million from Ankara.
